Had at the brewpub. Pours a midnight, motor oil black with a dark tan head that is almost gone right away. Loads of sugary lace spots that don’t cling together. Nose is sweet, but there is a ton of citrus hops (maybe a certain New Zealand style hop) in there. Malts, but not that roasted. Tastes like sugary toffee, with a bitterness that is really nice. Chocolate, a touch of coffee. Booze. Just awesome. They need to bottle this. MajorBuzz (18) - Munster, Indiana, USA - DEC 26, 2014
Black, large creamy bubbly tan head. Chocolate, sweet and coffee malt and earthy pine aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Dark chocolate, licorice and sweet cream with notes of fruity pine. Excellent. jlanning215 (363) - Peoria, Illinois, USA - FEB 5, 2013
On draft at Three Floyds. A beer named as such caught my need for a great stout and did I get it? Even better. It was like a hop bomb and a Imperial stout had a beautiful perfect proportionate baby. This beer was pitch black with a tan head. Smells of all things stout and DIPA at the same time. Hops and chocolate/roasted coffee. I was surprised by the body. Considering how it looked and smelled you would think it would be almost cloyingly thick and coating but instead it was pleasant. A wonderful mouthfeel. Amazing. andyhwcinc (1884) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 2, 2013
UPDATED: FEB 3, 2013 Enjoyed on tap @ 3 Floyd’s with friends. Appearance is pitch black with a thin tan head. Aroma has a rich hop profile with huge chocolate and coffee notes, smells decadent. Taste is phenomenal. Awesome stuff. Patrickctenchi (6547) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - DEC 26, 2014
Pours coffee-black with a quick, thin tan head.
Pine, chocolate, grapefruit, anise aroma.
Taste is grapefruit, caramel and chocolate malt, licorice, cream, vanilla....
Black IPA/Stout.....I really loved this blending....
It meshes two of my favourite styles brilliantly....
Beautiful flavor and feel....OUTSTANDING.

From notes. Enjoyed at Sergio’s World Beer in Louisville, KY on 26 December. Someone produced this baby out of the trunk of a car in passing. This has a black pour work beautiful tan head and awesome lace. Aroma is very hoppy up front. Good malts and chocolate under green leafy hops. Flavor is incredible. Very hoppy and dry with a wonderful chocolatey malty lingering flavor. The mouth feel is great. Perfectly carbonated for velvety coating lingering flavors. Chocolatey, leafy and hoppy. UPDATED: DEC 30, 2015 First was from a bottle. Second is from a tap enjoyed December 17 at Daily Growler in a tester.
Look - Jet black. Not as thick on head but was not agressive with pour. Tan head color. Lacing is not retained.
Tap look - Close to black. Light tan head. Head settles to a ring. Lacing is there.
Smell - Black IPA mixed with stout. Hoppy. Orange. Grapefruit. Dank. Chocolate. Coffee. Alcohol. Very complex and perfect.
Tap smell - Chocolate. Raisin. Hop. Bubblegum.
Taste - Alcohol, pine, and bitter up front. Chocolate and caramel finish.
Tap taste - Happy to almost smokey. Chocolate. Raisin. Toffee.
Feel - Not too creamy, not too watery. Carbonation does not explode.
Tap feel - Smooth. Slight alcohol. I wouldn’t call this dry. Sits just fine.
Overall - I am glad I picked up a bottle of this after having it as my last beer at Dark Lord Day 2015. I am much more coherent this time around. It is a great stout!
Tap overall - First sip said smokey. Last sip said hoppy. Good unnormal stout either way. dnicolaescu (2517) - Chișinău, MOLDOVA - JUL 28, 2015
UPDATED: DEC 6, 2015 Pitch black, bright orange head. The aroma is hop-forward - fresh and bright citrus hops, sweet citrus, some pine. Chocolate, big sweet malts and berries. Taste: sweet chocolate with lots of zesty hops, some licorice. Full-bodied, yet not sticky and drinkable. One of the best beers I’ve had. AWISLguy (3016) - Wisconsin, USA - DEC 30, 2014
Bomber on Christmas Night from Harry, in our week of mourning. Quite similar to Alpha Klaus, but without the sweetness. Terrific grassy aroma. Hops in the mouthfeel. This was great! Marheb (5717) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 4, 2015
L’équilibre entre le chocolat, le côté anisé et la résine verdoyante est unique en son genre, j’ai peine à la comparer. Elle n’est pas excessivement onctueuse ni très sucrée mais furieusement buvable.
