Bottle @ Mike’s House. Another barrel aged dud from Three Floyds for me. Black in color with a very small brown head. Get just an off combination of sour dark fruits, cognac, booze, and coffee. Has some black cherry and a touch of cough medicine, which is never a good thing. Tons of heat on this. Just an unpleasant all around experience. 750, red wax (2012). Notes are basically sweet and barrel. Cognac, some fruit, orange, grape. hopscotch (11181) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 24, 2014
Bottle... Pours tar-black with a small, creamy, tan head. Good retention. The bouquet consists of something very much like a Cognac-soaked, dark chocolate brownie. Medium to full-bodied with zippy carbonation. The flavor delivers tons of fiery cognac, deep roastiness and bitter-sweet black malt. Lengthy, boozy finish. Bottle of ctipping! Bottle @ home… Bottle no 382/564 … It pours pitch black with a medium tan head… dark fruits, some molasses, roasted malt, warming alcohol, raisins, plums, wood…. very nice! HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - DEC 18, 2013
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown-- near black, with a beige head. Aroma of acetone, dark fruit, roast, some fruit and lactic notes. Cognac, some roasted malts, touches of wood and vanilla. Flavor is sweet, boozy, lots of fruity and cognac notes. Raisins, plums, touches of roasted malt and chocolate. Thin mouthfeel, slick on the palate. Interesting, but probably the weakest barrel-aged variants of this beer. 50belair (3680) - Florida, USA - NOV 26, 2013
Bottle (#219) generously shared by Colin. DArk brown pour with a light brown head. Cognac aromas. Cognac, lactose, caramel, booze, and mild roasted malts. A little watery. Decent mouthfeel.
