Ciemne owoce (jeżyny, śliwki), melasa, sos sojowy, delikatna, interesująca ziołowość, mleczna czekolada. Mega słodkie, gęste i oleiste. Bardzo owocowe.

From notes. Enjoyed at a tasting at Steebo’s on February 11. 750 mL bottle, 2015 vintage. The pour is a jet black used motor oil color with the viscosity to match. There is a dark brown head that lingers a bit and then fades to a thick ring. The aroma is surprisingly good. There is a lot of chocolate and brown sugar with a healthy dose of molasses, per the usual Dark Lord. This isn’t as sweet though. The Aquavit does a fantastic job of just lingering and cutting the molasses beautifully. There is a light oak, some alcohol present, and a decent toffee addition on the back end. The flavor is much of the same. The Aquavit cuts the over-the-top sweetness so well, and allows more of the note to come through. Molasses, chocolate, caramel, and dark fruits are still prevalent, but they’re not as sweet as normal. The oak, sweet malts, and a light earthiness really work well on the back end. The mouth feel is thick and chewy with a soft carbonation and a lingeringly sweet chocolate and molasses that just coats the mouth beautifully. Damn, this is an excellent beer.

Sometimes a good thing is worth overdoing again. The twinge of aquavit from the cask brings balance to this over-the-top imperial stout.

Bottle shared Borefts Beer Festival 7th edition day 2 26/09/2015. Huge thanks to Kermis? for this one. A viscous dark brown / black oily coloured pour with asmall dark tan head. Aroma is big boozy whiskey, solvent, brown sugars, mint choc chip. Flavour is composed of full on sticky toffee, salted caramel, minty choc, full and rich, warming alcohol in the finish. Palate is full, sticky caramel, velvety smooth. Nice.

Not that different from the original Dark Lord, some weak dry bitterness might have been added to it but considering that it has been stored on Aquavit barrels the notes are surprisingly weak, still it is one of the absolute best beers out there

750 ML bottle thanks to Owen for sharing Black pour, black in the glass. Dark chocolate head that fizzles out quickly into lacing. Lots of AVB legs. Nose is Syrupy sweet but mellowed out by the barrel. Minty and herbal at the same time. Big waves of AVB and sweetness, then really mellow chocolate and dark fruit with mint. Went in and out of waves. taste was similar. Big and boozy at times and others, very mellow with chocolate, dark fruit and earthy mint. Full on beer. Need a third as a big slow sipper. Works on a lot of levels but at times really sweet.
