Opaque black - brown beer. Decent tan head. Smooth soft palate, viscous body. Mild minerals. Rich sweet dark malt. Sweet bourbon and coconut. A little vanilla. Mild dark fruits. Finishes softish and semi dry. Actually hides the abv quite well! Soft sumptuous tasty treat!

3/I/13 - 75cl bottle @ De Hopduvel - 2011 vintage - bottle #461/484 (2013-3) Huge thanks to Bobochamp for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark brown beer, no head. Aroma: lots of caramel, vanilla, mocha, dried fruits, more vanilla, bit sugary, some alcohol. Very intense aroma. MF: no carbon, full body. Taste: lots of caramel, vanilla, chocolate milk, more vanilla, dark caramel, fudge, sugary, pretty acidic touch (or is that the alcohol?). Aftertaste: lots of chocolate, vanilla, pretty boozy, alcohol warming the throat, brown sugar, caramel, rum raisins, bit earthy. Not as overly sweet as most of the other versions, bit boozy but not too much.

75cl, Vintage 2011 (Yellow wax), Bottle 461/484 (no mention of ABV), as Bourbon Barrel Aged Dark Lord , new exclusive American brew, thx alot to rfraga7!, very complex sweet Stout, very roasted/sweet and slightly alcoholic/fruity, not too heavy, very balanced, hazy, nearly no head, top class!, WOW!, One year of aging did soften the sweetness...

Big thanks to Dosbeerigos for sharing this on his 30th Bday. Didnt catch the bottle number, but that doesnt really matter because I was just super elated to be drinking this rare gem. Super smooth drinking stout given the ABV and treatment. The whiskey was there but I got more vanilla cream then anything. It was a real treat to try and another whale I can cross off the list.

750 ml waxed bottle, 470/484, served in a Deschutes tulip. Big thanks Dan (danielnovak3) for the share. A: Pour like motor oil. A thin tan head forms on the pour but it recedes quickly to a thin ring. No lace is left, but big sticky legs are present. S: Sweet, sweet pappy. I havent smelt a pappy presence this good since Rare BCBS. Light oak with some great roasted malts. Subtle dark fruit flavors with some toasted marshmallow and semi-bitter chocolate. T: Nice pappy bourbon up front, but it quickly gives way to some toasted marshmallow and vanilla from the barrel. Mild oak, roasted malts and light dark chocolate. M: Chewy and viscous with a relatively low carbonation level, but it creates a nice silky and creamy mouthfeel. Very nice. O: The pappy is a great addition to this beer, but I feel like it should have sat in the barrel longer to add just a little more depth in flavor. Not my favorite of the BA DL versions. Bottle generously shared by ipa247. Huge thanks to Jeff for sharing this rarity. Pours a pitch black with almost no light coming through. No head. No lacing. Leaves some small legs on the glass when swirled. The aroma is bourbon, vanilla, soy sauce, plum, cherry, sugar, caramel, and a bit of oak. The taste is sweet. Really sweet. Theres bourbon, vanilla, oak, soy sauce, plum, roastiness, and a bit of cherry. The finish has a decent amount of alcohol and a lingering soy sauce flavor as well as a bit of bourbon. Full bodied and viscous. Close to no carbonation. This is certainly better than the regular version of Dark Lord, but is still not a great beer. Its still cloyingly sweet and has a decent amount of unpleasant soy sauce.

Bottle shared on 12-3-11 by splax23, thanks Adam! Pours a brown hued black with no head. Smell is sweet with some backing notes of vanilla oak, bourbon and coffee. Taste is overly sweet malt and lingering bourbon with some oak. Adding more Pappy 23 helped balance the sweetness out!

Bottle 482/484, thanks Brad! Black pour with minimal head. Nose and flavor marked by Vanilla, Dark bitter chocolate along with sweet chocolate truffle, cream, booze, and brownie. Not a ton of the barrel, but its still a damn tasty and smooth imperial stout. Stunned that all of these barrel variants are 15%; its easy to drink.
