Aroma has sweet porto tones, ripe fruits, some oak and imperial stout elements in the background - some roastiness can be detected. Flavour has lots of porto, mellow oak tones and some alcohol. Sweet cocoa and dark chocolates typical to DL are in the background also on the flavour side. A porto with no sharp alcohol and stronger body with smoothness added, but still not overwhelmingly sweet. In other words: a porto with its typical problems fixed! Starts to get more IS tones at the end of the glass: rye pudding occurs.
Pours near black with a ring beige head. Aroma shows the port upfront with raisins, prunes, caramel and chocolate. Flavour is heavy sweet with the normal dark lord characters. Thick an sticky sweet mouthfeel. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Staffan47 (909) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - MAY 6, 2014
Bra start dagen före CBC 14. På Mikkeller bar Viktoriagade. 1000 DK inte direkt gratis. Solen steker. Torkad frukt och godis i doft. Aningen vinös. Söt och krämig. Bra balans men ett glas räcker gott och väl. Viss syrlighet som ligger och lurar under sötman. Kolsvart. Låg alkohol. Ingen strävhet eller kärvhet. Pyrmir (6098) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - MAY 14, 2014
Bomber bottle shared at mikkeller viktoria the day before CBC. Midnight black with tan head. Aroma massive and super sweet, molasses, dried fruit, barrel, wood, port and roasted malt. Taste has raisins, sugar, molasses, port, wood, chocolate and alcohol. Very sweet and smooth with well hidden alcohol.

Bottle shared by drailverworm and b3shine. Thanks! Pours a thick, syrupy dark brown with no head. Aroma has molasses, raisin, fig, and graham cracker. The beer is really sweet and reminds me a little of root beer. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 7, 2013
Bottle, shared with local raters. Very dark brown color. Near-black. Good thin brown head. Loose bits of lace. Roasty, dark chocolate aroma. Some dark fruit. Bigger body. Lighter carbonation. Kind of chewy, but a dry finish. Liquid leaves some syrupy film on the glass, pretty cool. Some earthy hops noticeable. Good bigger bitter taste, much less cloying sweet than the base Dark Lord. Light to moderate sweet still, but it’s nice. Some vinous notes in the finish, light hint of vanilla. Impressively sippable for 15%, only a little warmth. Very tasty, big complex imperial stout. A bit sweet still, but it’s not a problem for me (like it was in the regular Dark Lord) DTM (798) - Winters, California, USA - OCT 15, 2013
Bottle shared with a bunch of folks. Had Dark Lord bourbon barrel the same day and it just wasn't up to par. Still better than most beer out there. Got hints of the port flavor on the backend. Never drink too many good beers all in one day.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a sludgy jet black with a large tan head. Aroma of molasses, strong sweetness, lots of wine and port notes. Plums, raisins, oak, sweet dessert wine. Touches of cherry and sherry notes. Mild chocolate and dusty barrel notes. Pretty interesting. Flavor is sweet and boozy, with a semblance of bitter wine barrel notes, some tannins. I get some salt and liquid smoke notes as well. Full bodied, lingering finish that is salty and earthy. I wouldn’t want to drink a whole bottle of this. But, the glass I had was pretty interesting.
