4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Vintage 2009, white wax 650ml bottle bought at Ølbutikken in Copenhagen. Almost completely black body with some dark ruby highlights. Declining beige-brownish head. Plentiful and rich aromas of deep mocha chocolate with a delicate roastiness. Comprehensive and well blended taste of chocolate malts offset by dried and dark fruits where raisin and prunes can be detected. Deep bitter ending with warming alcohol. Velvet, smooth and silky vinous on the swallow. Full bodied, still with fine drinkability. First class (at Finns in Tromsø, 22.09.2010).
Bill Becker (1806) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - NOV 6, 2017

I got this in a trade with orbitalrOx. Thanks Don!
With a vigorous pour, I get a short lived 1" head of tan foam and no lacing. Color wise, it's a very dark brown/black with some reddish highlights but the first thing I noticed was how thick it looked during the pour. Wow.
The smell is loaded with dark fruit, chocolate, coffee, caramel, cocoa, molasses....will it ever stop? ;^)
The taste pretty much reflects the nose with the addition of a strong port flavour that I didn't really notice in the smell. What I find interesting is that all the flavours seem to take turns taking center stage, not allowing any single one to completely dominate. Sip after sip, sometimes the fruit shines through more, sometimes the Port, sometimes the coffee...you get the idea. lol. The abv is very well hidden because I don't get *any* warming during or after the swallow. I think that's amazing!
Really thick mouthfeel and very lightly carbonated, it finishes mostly with a lean towards chocolate and cocoa so it's a nice pleasant bitterness that I get to enjoy there and in the aftertaste. Very nice RIS and I'm very pleased to have gotten the chance to try it.
Bottom line: Super complex in flavour yet so smooth and easy drinking...hell of a testament to Three Floyds' brewing expertise. Highly recommended! czlowiekmotyka (516) - Warsaw, POLAND - NOV 1, 2017
What more is there to say. Super sweet and dense. Very long melasis like aftertaste. Not that coffee/choclate brew as I thought it would be. Exceptional. 19Michi38 (219) - Cracow, POLAND - OCT 31, 2017
DL2017... Czarne, nieprzejrzyste. Goryczka niska, wysycenie niskie, posmak mlecznej czekolady i wiśni. creppyiceman (1043) - POLAND - OCT 30, 2017

Aroma: cherries dipped in chocolate, soy sauce, raisins.
Appearance: pitch black, small dense head.
Taste: sweet, flavour of uber sweet chocolate, chocolate-flavoured milk, cherries, soy sauce and roasted malt.
Palate: full body, creamy texture, low carbonation.
Overall: Lovely milk chocolate-driven stout, perfect creamy body and balance, BA version must be up there with the bests :D

(Tap sample @ CBC 2016 Red Session, Copenhagen) Pours inky black with a tiny head. Aroma is really big overall and has an intense core of burnt sugar, quite heavy on black olive/soy sauce/mushroom/umami quality, dark fruit, ripe figs, roasty malts with a little chocolate. Flavour is again hyper-concentrated and fairly sweet, but not to the extent I expected after trying BA versions. It explodes with notes of black olive, soy sauce, figs, stewed plums, moderate roast to the dark malty core, toasted, definitely some feeling of sugar but not without balance, even a little tang from the olives/fruit. Roast and a bit of alcohol gives a healthy amount of drying to the back end, but the umami quality persists throughout the sip and into the aftertaste. Thick viscous body with very soft carbonation. Not really what I was expecting, as it's huge but not terribly sweet in small portions (would not split a bottle in two!), and the massive umami makes it really different. piwnanuta (224) - Warsaw, POLAND - OCT 17, 2017
Jedno z piwnych marzeń spełnione. Czekolada, wanilia, lekki sos sojowy, team słodyczka. Gęste i oleiste. POEZJA!!! SG111 (2033) - New York, USA - SEP 22, 2017
Thanks, Jane! Bomber. 2017 release. Green wax. Pours black, no head. Aroma is soy sauce first and foremost. Then dark roasty malt (very roasty), cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate. Sweetness behind the intensely roasty nose and soy sauce predominance. Flavor is chocolate, cinnamon, roasted malt, sugar, some soy sauce. Wow, that's incredibly sweet as it warms. And very roasty. Some bitterness in that finish. Not bad. I see why some love it and I see why some people say it's a diabetes soy sauce bomb. I enjoy it. 2011 bottle. Aroma explodes out of the pour of chocolate, coffee, soy sauce. Time has softened the harder edges of flavor with huge but smooth sweet flavor of roasted coffee, mocha, and vanilla. Mouthfeel is full bodied and the finish is amazingly long. Lived up to the hype. Tide (4358) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 9, 2017

Bitter finish with roasted malts, chocolate, dark fruits, soy, coffee, toffee, dried fruits and caramel. Exquisite imperial stout.
