A: Nice golden yellow color. Lots of bubbles and a little lacing left behind.
S: Not much here. Very faint aroma. If I breathe in deeply I can detect a slight grapefruit aroma.
T: If I had to rate it I would call it a distant cousin to Dreadnaught. It is not as forward or flavorful as Dreadnaught. But, it could pass as its half cousin. There is a little bit of grapefruit hops with a nice malty sweetness. I realize not all their beers can taste the same but 3 Floyd’s is known for big bold beers. This one is not that.

Notes from Dark Lord Day ’07. On tap at the brewpub. Hazy light golden with a 1/2 finger off-white head. There was some slight skunk that I picked up on, however I didn’t feel that this was bad. Pine, grass, hay and some herbal grapefruit are the hops to the biscuity malts. Flavor is much the same with a little more biscuity malts. Moderate bitterness in the finish. Drank at Three Floyd’s Brewing Company during the 2007 Dark Lord Day
Big scents and flavors of hops. It was drier than most Three Floyd’s beers as it did not show much malt at all. While less IBU’s than the Dreadnaught (~75 vs. 100) it appeared more bitter and hoppy. Aroma is a nice hoppy scent. Color is an orange/brown with good carbonation and nice head. Taste is a mild sweet malt flavor backed buy a mellow hop flavor and finishes with a mild bitterness. Its a good Pale Ale.

opaque orange, frothy off white head, solid lace, sweet caramel malt and citrus hop aroma, lots of sweet malt flavor and lots of hop flavor play off each other but never really melds together, long bitter finish,

Pale copper pour with a thin and receding white head. The nose is fairly restrained PNW hoppiness...pine and grapefruit. On draft at the 3F brewpub. Poured an orange-gold with smallish white head. Aroma was not overly powerful, with citrus and floral elements. Pretty strong hop presence; but a decent malt backbone. half pint at the pub (of course). interesting that the description on ratebeer mentions british malt and liquit hops while the beer menu at FFF talked about this beer being made by robots. as you might expect from a robot brew this was sort of one dimensional but had all of the hoppiness that I might want in an IPA. This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a very hazy dark orange colored body. The mild aroma was hoppy and floral. The mouth feel was "Oh My God! What an initial hop rush!" very strongly tingly at the start and at the finish with a biting hoppy aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt hops and strong floral hop pineyness in a deep malt base. A wonderful best in class brew.
