On tap into a pint glass at Hopleaf...Pours a dark orange, more like copper with a light white head. Only about a finger of retention not much lacing or great retention...The aroma is super light, mostly malty, light caramel, a little orange...Taste is ok, nothing special. Tasted on draft at Local Option. Pours clear light amber with a thick white head that leaves a nice lace collar. The nose is malty with light hops and some apricot and a hint of raspberry. The flavor is a beautiful blend of caramel malt, hops, and apricot fruitiness. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long fruity finish.

Cask @ Pizzeria Paradiso, Dupont Circle. Quite surprised to see this on tap, but evidently this is what happens when I move away from DC. Pours a slightly hazy, tarnished orange color; thin, fine-bubbled off-white head with solid lacing; nice pour. Solid earthy and floral bitterness in the aroma, lightly bitter and nothing rough, with a quiet, candy-sugar malt core; definitely an east-coast / midwest style of hoppy beer, but pretty aromatic and engaging. Medium body; light carbonation; lightly creamy and quite smooth; moderate amounts of earthy and floral hops (not quite English style, but not a citrus focus by any means); an earthy, candy-sugar-tinged malt core; balanced; somewhat heavy / sweet for a pale ale, or at least what I prefer from a pale ale, but pretty tasty and a solid presence in the mouth; still, a far cry from something like Alpha Kind. Draft at the brewpub. Color is dark copper/orange with offwhite head. Aroma is fruity, hoppy, sweet. Grapefruit and orange rind, a bit of toffee and earthiness. Typical strong three floyds hops and sweetness, toffee and caramel and peaches. Pine, lemon, orange rind. Pretty nice flavor. Very smooth mouthfeel. I liked this beer. Cask at Pizzeria Paradiso, Dupont Circle. Clear red-brown pour with a fluffy light tan head. Caramel and nutty malts on the nose. Flavor is mostly toasted malt with notes of caramel, honey and nuts. Mild fresh piny hop finish. Very sticky mouth feel. A little thick for a hot summer day.

Draft at the brewpub (Munster, IN). Another APA psuedo/collab. Pours a decent coppery dark amber, a decent haze, small offwhite bordering towards tan head that laces ok overall. Aromas throw a decent grapefruit and fuzzy peach fruitiness, decent bitterness and lively fruit move into bready and toasty malts with a decent sweeter toffee edge, florals and grass, a decent feel overall. Taste is a bit off for me, sweeter toffee and caramel are there, less bready pale malts and crackers, hops fall behind a bit, decent bitterness of grapefruit rind, florals, and lemon mix with faint pine and an ok lingering bitterness. The sweetness gets to me a bit, a bit too sweet overall, heavier bodied for the style. Give me something that is fairly hoppy, fruit forward with a light pale male body for my APAs. simple mild hopped aroma. Rusty brown color. Restrained earthy roasted caramel flavors - not so strong that you would mistake this beer for anything stronger or more overpowering than what it is. Tap at piece, pours light copperish amber with white head. Nose has fairly mild peachy and grapefruity notes with sweet toffee malt. Flavors achieve a good balance with sweet malts and bitterness, lacks that good fff/pnw hop presence resulting in a forgettable profile, while this is surprising more malt forward heavy on the crystal, sweet and hint of toasted malt. Pours a nice light amber color with a small amount of head that lingers just a bit.
Aroma is fairly mild - slightly sweet & hoppy. Flavor is more complex with some hops and a sort of light spicy/peppery note coming through - very interesting and somewhat unique.
Nicely carbonated and very drinkable. A very solid beer.
