Dark mahogany pour with garnet highlights along its border and a small but creamy latte head. Aroma was cocoa, caramel, dark fruit and roasted malt. Full-flavored with some molasses, maple, and brown sugar accompanying dominant chocolate. Nice thick mouthfeel. Nice.
With Pat in 09 or 10. Pours deep, vinaigrette brown-maroon with a thin, lightly laced white head. Aroma of dark chocolate, cherries, tart raspberries, vanilla, pepper, and hint of spice and malts. Bomber. This has actually been a long time want. Mainly because I’m always ISO new FFF ticks. And I used to be a big dogfish fan. Anyway. Aroma is cinnamon apples and brown malt. Bottle: Thanks, Ed. Dark mahogany & ruby in color with a mild, beige collar outlining the edge. Aroma of sweet caramel with some very slight oxidation, almost more sherry-like than cardboard-y at this point. Some prunes, toffee, & residual sugars round out the edges. Tastes of burnt caramel & brown sugar that’s started to caramelize, splashed with a little bit of bitter, unsweetened cocoa powder. Again, very slight oxidation that gets more prevalent with warmth. Bottle: The aroma consists of caramel, fruit raisin, and a hint of nuts. It pours a dark brown with red highlights with a small off-white head that quickly fades to a thin very fine ring. The flavor starts with chocolate, caramel, and a hint of molasses. The finish has light-moderate raisin with a hint of nuts. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation.

M: Decent Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Boozy, Somewhat Watery
Overall, A decent brown barrel aged beer but the smell was better than the taste.

Opaque black - brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate with a little fine carbonation. Minerally freshness but the malt tastes a little tired, still smooth though. Slight barrel vanilla with a hint of fruit underneath. Tangy. Quite a minerally crisp finish. Decent beer but was expecting more from these titans!
22 oz. bottle (backlog notes). Pours dark caramel color with a small light tan head. The aroma is nutty, caramel malt, light spicy notes, charred wood, and caramel. , aged on Palo Santo wood. Milk chocolate aroma. Very dark brown, light brown head, good lace. Sweet, light bitter, hint of berries sourness, milk chocolate. Lightly warming, sourish/tart, bit thin. Lots of wood in the finish.

The color is mahogany, or maybe black, with no light making it through the glass. Brown? Not so much. A nice tan head forms on pouring that retains nicely given the ABV, and leaves some lace down the glass.
Dark fruits in the nose mostly - prunes, raisins, and plums, along with molasses and roasted malt. As it warms, the dates really take over and the alcohol becomes more apparent.
The taste starts out and stays pretty sweet. Molasses and a bit of roasted and caramel malt, along with a bunch of dark fruit - same as the nose with dates, raisins, and figs. I imagine there used to be more of a hop presence, but it is a little light, given how FFF normally operates. If anything, the light spice and herbal character works with the Palo Santo wood to mellow the malt character. Finishes sweet with dark fruits.
This has a very full body, slightly burning sensation from the alcohol on the way down. Medium carbonation, and a bit sticky.
At 10% ABV, this is a slow sipper. I really enjoy the complexity of flavor and the fact that no flavor truly dominates.
