Bottle shared by a generous ratebeerian at PP Strong Ale Fest 07. Pale copper color with a white head. Fruity hop aroma with grapefruit and sweet malt notes. Pretty sweet with a big hop bitterness. Tastes hot but I would never have guessed it was 10.5%.

Bomber. Well I shouldnt set my expectations too high for an 8 year old hoppy beer. Dark copper pour. The second half of the bottle was a brown sewer water. Lots of alcohol smell, thought that would go down. Some caramel. Reminded me of an old ale, but not really a good one. Dumped most of it. At least the bottle is bad ass.

Bootle split with Adnielsen. Pours murky orange with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus and booze with a bit of oxidization. Taste is citrus, big sweet malts, caramel. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. Sticky sweet finish.

Bottle offered @ my parents basement thanks to RABinCO. Thanks ! Pours a murky orangish brown appearance with a light brown head. Quite a bit of caramel, toasted malts, and caramel with some dull herbal hops. Twangy fruity flavor with some spice, toffee, and cardboard. Surely past its prime but kind of fun to try.

22oz. bottle pours a murky orange with golden hues rounding the edges. Surprisingly, there was a small off-white head that managed to settle as a nice cap. Aromas were quite pleasant with pineapple and mango leading the way into a noticeable grain bill. Very faint wafts of alcohol, but pretty aromatic for its age. Taste is similar to the nose. Hints of pineapple juice, guava, mango and a thick caramel molasses sweetness and texture. Carbonation was pretty moderate, but far from flat. Some nice cereal notes along with a slight spice/pine come through in the backend and only a slight hint of alcohol. A very warming finish. Very surprised at how well this beer has held up! My expectations were pretty low heading into this, but was pleasantly surprised at what I found.

Pours a hazy orange with an eggshell head. Taste is semi sweet. Pretty mellow now. Still pretty good.

Pours a cloudy dark copper color with amber edges and a one finger off-white head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Sporadic streaks and spots of lacing left behind. Slightly herbal and surprisingly hop forward aroma with resinous, grassy pine needle along with leathery malt, sweet booze and dark fruit notes. Slightly earthy with a floral, grassy hop presence followed by leathery malt, caramel, toffee, fig, raisin and alcohol. On the fuller end of medium bodied with a balance of dry, earthy hops, leathery malt and dark fruit. The hop presence is still pretty strong but its a bit stale with prominent resinous bitterness that lingers over the sweeter notes into a bone dry finish. This is countered mid-palate by earthy, leathery malt and dark fruit sweetness. Hints of plum, raisin and fig followed by some sweet, boozy heat. Slight warmth in the finish but the high ABV is relatively well masked.

22 oz. bottle from alexsdad06- thanks again, Brad! Pours a mostly clear amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, pine, honey, brown sugar, and herbs; resinous, almost hints of some hop character after all this time. Flavor of caramel, rye-like spice, pine resin, wood, and mixed tropical fruits. Light-medium bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, resinous mouthfeel. Not bad.

22 oz bomber. Cloudy with not much head. A little old, some sweet malts but low hop aroma. Slight sourness (oxidation?) Sweet malts, but really not much hop flavors, and finished with a noticeable bitterness. I dont think I tried this beer in its prime. A shame.

I felt a bit guilty for letting this one sit around for 3 1/2 years after bottling -- but in retrospect, Im not sure that was such a terrible mistake. It comes off somewhere between a nicely aged American Strong and a divinely aged IIPA. Pineapple, resin instead of aged-hop cheese. Nice brown sugar caramels, extremely drinkable, just hints of the 10.5% that could easily be more like 8.

From notes. Tasted from a bomber bottle on my birthday (thanks Brent). Pours cloudy orange with a thin white lace head. The nose is sweet caramel malt with lots of orange peel and solid resin hops aroma. The flavor starts of sweet, moves to lots of bittersweet orange peel with a solid roasted component and bitter hops taking over. The body is full with light carbonation and a long finish that features bitter hops and caramel malt sweetness.
