Bomber bottle with Patty. Cellared for nearly two years. Pours an insanely bright, turbid amber-orange with a huge, craggy, fluffy beige head. Insane, chaotic lacing. Spotty and spider-webbed. Aroma of caramel, honey, ripe citrus fruit, toasted malts, and some hints of lemon zest and oak. Fuller bodied with a smooth, malty, vanilla-silky mouth feel. Finishes with tons of caramel and grapefruit. Further notes of lime juice, and pine needle crisp. Well balanced and full of juicy citrus flavors. Bottle pours amber with a cream colored head. Obviously, and old beer, and IPAs don’t age well, so was not sure what to expect. Nose is caramel, almost butterscotch with a bit of spice. Taste is malty with good caramel flavor and muted grassy hoppiness. The hops have really gone from this one, as you would expect. No pine or citrus, as I would have expected. I found a lone bottle of this at Discount Liquor in Milwaukee a few weeks ago, and I know it is an IPA way past its prime, but I couldn’t pass it up. Pours a hazy amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, fuity. Zero hops. Medium body on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, cereal, with a clean aftertaste. This IPA is about two years old, and despite having no hop aroma, flavor, or bitternes, it is still very drinkable. I’m sure it is not as good now as it was fresh, but it has aged gracefully. Three Floyds Fantabulous Resplendence XI Anniversary. Im assuming it is just about a year old. It is a 22 ouncer with a big label with a cartoon painting on it. Is there plans for an XII I wonder?
Pours a hazy pale orange with a small head (even with a vigorous pour) that dissipates quickly. Looks pretty good.
Nice hops on the nose with some definite floral attributes. Im also getting some juicy caramel-like malt, though it is faint.
Mouthfeel is smooth, somewhat thick and chewy with little carbonation. Taste hits you with hops a few different times, malt as it’s backbone, with bitter hop bite in the finish. It is also rather sweet. Slight bit of citric/acid sourness blends with the hops. Some piney notes as it goes down as well. Could have worked with more hops in this one.
The alcohol is well hidden, a nice trend on Three Floyd’s brews. I don’t know if this is that awesome or extravagant to tout as your anniversary ale but it is a solid American Strong IPA. No problems with finishing this bad boy.

Pours an orange amber color with a nice off white head and lacing down the glass. Caramal and toasted malt, very light citrus hops, mango/papaya fruitiness in the nose. Medium bodied, very smooth with a lasting finish. Sweet with caramel malt, very little bitterness to speak of, especially for an IPA. Decent enough. Bottle. split with Pat at 430 AM after running 4 miles in a blizzard. Pours a bright, amber-orange with a huge, frothy, fluffy beige head and insane lacing. Aroma of bread, caramel, honey, citrus hops, fruit, toasted malts, and some hints of lemon. Mouthfeel is extremely well balanced - I would have pinned this to be an Imperial IPA, rather than a standard IPA - notes of caramel, bready malts, vanilla, and citrus fruits - grapefruit and lemon.

Sampled at an East Side Bottle Liberation Society get together. Brought by Joe. This pours a cloudy golden with a light head that gushes and requires patience. This was a few years old and the hops are pretty much gone. Not sure what it was fresh but it is no longer an IPA. Still, it is a tasty and interesting beer. Rather fading hoppiness in there gives the maltiness more place in the flavour profile and unfortunately, it comes across as rather dull. A bit honeyed, but almost flat-bodied, which gives an impression of staleness. Bready, linear maltiness can never hint at refreshment while the finish is dominated by sharp alcohol. Poorly balanced.
