COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
There is smoke that billows from the realms we dare not name. The Formorian Priestess dwells within these realms and this is our tribute to her in smoked lager form. Crisp, slightly malty and refreshing this lager is sure to satisfy even her.

Draft. Poured clear golden color with an average white frothy head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate smoke lager aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet smoked flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good beer.

Baconny lager with pronounced smoked malts in the flavor and taste. It is a tasty beer but the thin and watery nature of it jsut kills it. Also seems over-hopped for the style which doens’t help the smoked aspect.

Draft on tap at the brewpub (Munster, IN). Exciting new smoked offering, yo! Pours a well hazed golden hue, a bit darker with some good glowing darker gold orange elements. A bigger cakey whitish head sits atop and laces pretty well, sticks around. Aromas are gentle smokey grains, a touch of earth, faint campfire meat meets grassy and earthy hops, bready malts. A touch of weedy earth, fresh grass, and gentle spice. Touch of apple. Initial is lighter end of the fold in body, touches of smoke and earth, grassy hops and a mellow bitterness up front. Gentle apple, woody smoke, earth, bready gentle crisp malt and cereal elements. Middle gets a bit more smokey, woody and earthy, falls leaves, grassy hop bitterness remains firm into the backend and finish, good dryness, apples and a bit of citrus, bready malts, grass and straw. Mellow to decent smokiness compliments the main show here, a crisp and dry refreshing lager with a firm dryness into the backend, mellow woody and earthy smoke elements giving some life and unique spins. Solid offering here, although I personally would have liked a bit more smoke. Nice beer. Mellow aroma, pretty pour, tasty beer that is dry and crisp, mellow smoke.

This poured a clear darker to pale yellow with a white head. Aroma was lighter smokey meats, some light grain and grassy hops. Flavor was smoked bacon, but a bit subdued, with pretty solid lager base. Probably my faovirite smoked lager that ive had.

This one is weird. Draft at three Floyd's brewpub. This reminds me of their ham on rye. Weird but appealing taste. I was the only out of 5 that like it. Smokey for sure. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at FFF. Filtered transparent tan-orange. Thin, steady, creamy head. Medium bodied, very clean, very smoky, could sit next to a Schlenkerla. Meaty smoked malt, golden malt too. Perfect body, clean fresh lager tones, but the smoke is close to overload. Burnt cream ale. One for the Rauch lovers.

On tap at Bigby’s Pour House in Addison, IL., and shaker served with a hazed, yellow/golden hue, a lasting hat of fluffy, white head foam, and curtainy cling to the coating swirls of lacing. The nose was mild malt, but mainly expressive, smoky, "slim jim" meatiness. The flavor added a touch of leather, but was dominated by a more than medium dose of lingering, earthy, tanniny, and dry bitterness that carried into the finale. Crisp & clean to the tongue, with a medium body and good carbonation, but didn’t impress as an "Other Smoked" example.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazed straw color with a medium white head. Aroma of mild to medium smoked malt with apparent crisp lager yeast notes. Touches of biscuit and doughy malts. Flavor is Smokey, however the smoke blends well with the sweet and bread notes. Medium bodied, refreshing on a fall day.

Half pint nonic pour at the brewpub. Pours a clear golden color with a nice looking head. At first I thought I got the wrong beer because there was no smoke but I needed to let it warm. Mild smoke on a clean, white bread malted lager. Simple and straight to the point. Light noble hoppiness breaking though. I would much more prefer a smoke bomb.

Draft at FFF, pours slightly hazed straw pale yellow with dense foamy white head. Aroma of Munich malts, simple breast character with hint of smokey grain. Flavor has rauchmalz mixing well with sweet dough, long dry smokey flavor that lasts, perhaps touch astringent on the very back end. Very crisp, but perhaps the body is a tad too big. Nice smoked hell beer though. Don’t worry, there’s no peat (or pete) in this beer. ¥
