On draft at the brewpub; aroma was heavy on spice. Some yeat as well, but definitely spice was the strongest element. Flavor was much of the same with some yeast and fruit as well. The weakest beer I had on the night. Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 1, 2007
BCTC 2007. Very dark brown body topped by a small off-white ring of foam. Greasy bread crust, doughy yeast, some herbal spices and hint of dark fruits. No roastiness to be found in this despite being described as a Belgian Stout. All that would have been fine with me but roaming in the back was a little leathery flavour bordering beef/grease that bothered me a bit. A disappointment considering it is from Three Floyds. Big foamy tan head over a dark dark brown body (ala 06.06.06). A big spiced sweetness. Peppery anise, coriander, a little lemon. Dark malt sweetness, but also a dry belgian syrup sort of fruitiness. Subdued body with small bubbles. A little creamy, but not mind boggling. Dry Belgian syrup fruitiness. A spicy slightly roasty backbone. Anise, lemon with a touch of diacetyl to cut it. Draft, BCTC 2007. Pours a dark brown color; light tan head with patchy lacing. Ginger and lots of floral notes in the aroma. Plenty of ginger and Belgian spices from the beginning; medium mouthfeel with dense esters and dry dark fruits; almost a licorice, yeasty note coming through. Lengthy, doughy and ginger finish. Interesting, ginger-dominated (but not overpowering) dark ale.

sampled at BCTC. When I had this I thought, what is 3F doing at this festival and is this really a belgian beer? I guess it is, just a style I’ve never had. I only had one sample so this rating may upset the purists. Poured black with brown hues. Aroma was earthy and bready, with some spices (anise, carraway seeds) and some dark chocolate. Flavor was is full of spices, but they are balanced well by roasted chocolate malts, a little grassy hops ( hey, its 3F) and a medium body. BCTC - I guess I will go against the grain here because I really enjoyed this beer. After consuming a bunch of Belgian beer and a lot of them sour, I stumbled over to the 3 Floyds table. Out of curiosity I asked what they are serving and the answer was unfamiliar, so I said pour baby. Pours very dark brown almost black with almost no head. Aroma is very bread-y (not rye) but some other bread with a strong seed flavor. Taste is light and full of flavor of other spices, very earthy. Very different for 3 Floyds (translation: not full of hops). A great change of pace at the fest and the most innovative beer at the fest. Draft pour at BCTC. Dark purplish brown colored body. Instant nose of ginger root, burnt soil and sweet cherries and cola. Turned me off right away. Tastes peppery and musty, with mildly stinging ginger and a frothy, medium-bodied palate. Simple and pasty overall, the ginger and rye bread flavors just don’t sit well with me.
