An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. UPDATED: AUG 16, 2004 2004 edition, Bottled. Bought a bomber bottle at the brewery, and it must have just come off the line. It pours with a big smell of fresh, green hops that just dazzles the nose. Foamy head more pilsner than wheat style. I think the smell helped overwhelm the grapefruit taste of the amarillo hops, because I couldn't find it easily. Maybe once it's sat for awhile, it will be closer to the way it tasted last year, but man, it's still great!
On tap, at the brewery, 2003. While my experience points are still low around here, I'll stick my neck out and say this is quite unlike any other beer out there. American Wheats are a little bland, unless they've been brewed with the spicy flavor of German wheats, but the Floyds never cared for following style. This has a big zesty wheat taste that I somehow guessed was North Dakota winter wheat, and Nick said I was right, but I don't know how I knew. Like with most 3F beers, there's a big smack in the face of hops, this one is all Amarillo, giving a different more orangey taste. Pleasing orange color, too. Gotta get out and find this stuff while it's around!

Pours a light cloudy light amber with a creamy head. Aromas of pine, citrus and light caramel. Flavors medium pine, light citrus, slight caramel, gumball like flavor (light). Light to medium sweet and bitter. This is a lighter beer full of flavor and ingredients. No wonder it was 15 bucks for a 6 pack!

12 oz bottle. Pours a nice straw yellow with two finger head. Aroma is pine, mango, and earthy. Taste is barnyard due to the wheat with a nice light tropical fruit from the hops. Moderate bitterness and dryness on the end. Mouthfeel could be creamier, light bodied. Overall a solid hoppy wheat beer that is always enjoyable.

12 ounce bottle. Lightly hopped grapefruit smells. Foamy, hazy, and medium straw in color. For a wheat beer this does have some slight hops flavors to this brew. Pretty smooth. Overall, unique beer with higher hops.

Thanks to my GF for bringing these back from her Indianapolis trip. Pours an unfiltered golden colour with a smaller white cap and some creamy-foamy lacing. Pilsner-like nose at first, with some fresh mild hops coming out, giving citrus notes. Wheat based taste with the hops slightly taking over with grassiness. A refreshing wheat beer for those who like it hoppier.

A guy at the market recommended this to me against my best judgment. I love IPAs and a Wheat Beer disguised as an IPA, didnt make sense. I tried it and loved it. Unlike IPAs that can be overbearing after a couple, you can drink several of these beers without any issues. Amarillo hops work extremely well with this brew!

On tap. Pours a hazy gold Amber with modwrstechead. Aromas of candied fruit and wheat malts. Flavors of tropical fruit leaning towards pineapple and melons, with light jammy stoned fruit and toast. Fuzzy - well carbonated. Super.
