4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: AUG 16, 2004 2004 edition, Bottled. Bought a bomber bottle at the brewery, and it must have just come off the line. It pours with a big smell of fresh, green hops that just dazzles the nose. Foamy head more pilsner than wheat style. I think the smell helped overwhelm the grapefruit taste of the amarillo hops, because I couldn't find it easily. Maybe once it's sat for awhile, it will be closer to the way it tasted last year, but man, it's still great!
On tap, at the brewery, 2003. While my experience points are still low around here, I'll stick my neck out and say this is quite unlike any other beer out there. American Wheats are a little bland, unless they've been brewed with the spicy flavor of German wheats, but the Floyds never cared for following style. This has a big zesty wheat taste that I somehow guessed was North Dakota winter wheat, and Nick said I was right, but I don't know how I knew. Like with most 3F beers, there's a big smack in the face of hops, this one is all Amarillo, giving a different more orangey taste. Pleasing orange color, too. Gotta get out and find this stuff while it's around!
Poured from 12oz brown bottle into a nonic pub glass, a clear golden amber colour with white foam, lasting with lace. Nice soft, round, bready grainbill thanks to delicious red wheat malt, with faint caramel sweetness. Emphasis on Amarillo hops, one of my favourite US varieties: super fruity, tangy, grapefruit and orange marmalade, apricots, candied apples, earth, pine resin, honey, perfume. Light-medium body, strong carbonation, lingering bittersweet aftertaste. A particularly good hoppy wheat ale. Fatehunter (2605) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - OCT 8, 2017

Straw-colored pour with dense fluffy white head. Very effervescent. Smells of tangerine, mild grapefruit, lemon zest, wheat and honey as it warms, all riding on an earthy backdrop. Light and playful under the nose and a pleasure to the nares. Tastes presents wheat, lemon zest, mild grapefruit. Floral notes present midway and ends with a biscuit/bread tone. The mouthfeel is medium with a sort of grainy character, but smooth overall. The finish presents a long-drawn, extremely mild bitterness. A pleasure, overall. Would enjoy again.

No shit, all shinola! I drank this bitch down faster than I would like to admit! I usually stay away from The Floyds because the price tag is so damned High! But I have got to hand it to those bastards, this is one tasty f****** Brew! FinnIckler (791) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 9, 2017
Tap. Pours clear orange. Nose is citrus, orange, apricot, Peach, hints of banana. Palate is banana with a strong American pale ale oomph to it. Some grains that interfere. Great, but I don’t get the style.
