Tap at brewpub. Not sure what a Hessian ESB is stylewise, nor did bartender, but the beer won me over. Bready, citrusy aroma with a moderate head and cloudy tan/orange tone. Great looking beer. First sip presents with an earth citrus tone with slight tangerine sweetness. Not overly bitter on the back but bitterness present. First rating. Pint at the Three Floyds brew pub. Pours a hazy orange with a nice, healthy medium white head. I’m trying to imagine a Hessian ESB as I drink this. Aroma of leafy hops, some pineapple and orange. Healthy dose of hops in the aroma. Flavor is mostly bitter, lots of citrus and pine, specifically focusing on tangerine and grapefruit hops. It’s nice, juicy, and easy drinking. The malts are kind of smoggy. Nice light malt bill. Lots of caramel and some baked bread. This beer is light, easy drinking, very nice to session and enjoy. Very nice beer from Three Floyds.
