Bottle at Jack’s farewell tasting, many thanks to Colin. It purs deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasty, earth, sweet pine, prune, date, cocoa and orange. The taste is roasted malt, toast, pine, cocoa, earth, decent bitterness, coffee grinds, citrus and mild acidity. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Good balance. Pretty tasty stuff. drsordr (2658) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - AUG 7, 2013
Bottle pour dark brown. Nose sweet malt and floral hop. Tate sweet malt, spice hop and roast. Better roasted flavors, not burnt tasting like a lot of black IPA tend towards. Late bitter aftertaste. wchesser (2074) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 7, 2013
UPDATED: AUG 9, 2013 From a trade with budznsudz. Thanks, man! Slightly thin looking brown with pretty persistent thin head and medium lacing. Nose is kind of light, some roast malt and orange. Taste is pine and light grapefruit hops, nice roasted malt core almost becoming burnt caramel with warmth. One of those where the total is greater than the sum of its parts. Really very nice BIPA. Hits the spot. holdenn (2116) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 6, 2013
On tap at the brewery. Brown black with a beige head. light nose some citrus lemonb some odd earthiness. Lots of lemony hop flavors. Some bitter pine with undertones of dark fruit cherries tobacco and chocolate. Really over carbonated but but a creamy body once it settles. Long juicy bitter finish. Nice beer. Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London during Jack’s farewell tasting. Pours clear brown with a creamy, tan head. Nose holds burnt pine, orange, dirt. Medium sweet flavor, some chalky cocoa, good roast, earth, bitter grapefruit and orange rind, toast. Medium bodied with fine to average, creamy carbonation. Roasty finish, bitter earth, more citrus rind, burnt wood, dark pine. Pretty decent.

Bottle shared at natifest. Pours a darker brown with a khaki head of foam. The aroma has citrus, dark malt, and grass. The taste is fairly light and hoppy. Decent black IPA. dwm1034 (784) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 2, 2013
Split bomber with sherm1016. Pours a dark brown with thin head. Interesting malty initial taste with a bitter hop edge. Not a huge BIPA fan but this is good / tasty

At FFF. Poured darker brown with decent lace. Pleasant sweet hop citrus aroma. Quite smooth balanced character. A solid BIPA zsb19 (168) - Cincinnati, Kentucky, USA - JUL 23, 2013
Pours deep dark brown with thick creamy tan head. Aroma is roasty sweet malt and some floral/pine hops coming through. Taste is roasty coffee malt upfront with faint floral, piny hops on the follow through. Aftertaste is lingering roasted coffee and bitter hops. Palate is thin and somewhat sticky. Overall this is an interesting mix of things. Heavy roastiness with some hop bite. I would say this is a pretty solid take on a Black IPA. brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 15, 2013
Bottle courtesy of GT. Thanks! Black pour with a khaki head. Super pine forward aroma. Very woody, herbal nose, some grapefruit, chocolate, caramel, and roast. Resin, pine, and bitter, woody herbs on the tongue. Tons of roasted malt, grapefruit peel, and a light sweetness of caramel and chocolate.
