Aroma is interesting. Hops and pineapple and a hint of grapes. Somewhat of a malt highlight as well.
Beautiful dark amber color with a nice thin bubbly head. This one looks like candy.
Strong hoppy flavor with a nice citrus follow through. A touch bitter, which is good for beer like this. Not too harsh. Just right.
Overall a very well done beer. putbeerinmouth (8) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 5, 2010 does not count
Pours orange and cloudy. aroma is malty , fruity, with alcohol. Smooth mouth feel, runs over the whole tongue well. Hits the palate from front to back. Really good well balanced taste of malt, fruits, and a good alcoholy finish. Probably my favorite barleywine. Can’t wait to get some more for the cellar(box in basement). hollardustin (327) - Indiana, USA - AUG 31, 2011
UPDATED: DEC 18, 2011 Pours dark amber with big creamy white head. Aroma is rich caramel with earthy, citrus hops. Taste is a delicious blend of earthy hop resin and rich caramel with a semi-sweet finish. The mouthfeel of this beer is amazing! I had it when it was originally released and loved it....it might be better now. TorbenJensen (1528) - Valby, DENMARK - OCT 5, 2015
Nice amber color with foamy head. Flavor of peaches and pine needles. Low carbonated with warming alcohol. Deeply tasting peaches and lot of dried candied fruit with a little malty finish. A little tasty mild hop in the end, just enough to make sure it´s a beer and not a wine. Can be shared with a good friend or just to be enjoyed alone, while thinking big. Final choice for Christmas. Superb long aroma if a little overpowering. Massive full bodied oat, bread malts to aspire for. Tangy citrus hops and a cool long finish. A tragedy that I probably won’t consume this on tap. I usually find oat beers bland but this is special and should be iconic. Poured into a pint glass. Nice fluffy head. Will seek out again. Oh awesome label. Can I buy the artwork? M_Jager (106) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 17, 2011
This was one of the first beers in my adventures into beer tasting and still one of the best. Orange colour, medium head, had lots of flavour, finished off a little bitter. Huge beer! Clyx (208) - SWEDEN - SEP 5, 2011
Pineapple, lots of oats, dried fruits, figs, caramel. Nice hops that balance the big sweetness and makes this one of the smoothest beers I’ve ever had. jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 17, 2009
Bomber at Jerry’s. Clear red amber with good, creamy tan head / Nose of pine, sugar, and citrus / Medium body, sugary, with big hops and bitter, biting finish / Flavors of fresh cut pine and spun sugar, with notes of grapefruit and oats / The sweetness detracts, but a very fine beer. Not a barleywine but a double ipa.
