Behold! The fifth collaborative effort of Three Floyds and Mikkeller. This complex ale is just the beverage for canal boat trips in Copenhagen or the brutal Chicago winter. tiong (7672) - Espoo, FINLAND - AUG 24, 2013
650ml bottle @ PBF 2013

Vertical with Mikkeller version - Pours lighter yellowish with a small foamy head. Aroma has much more fruity hoppy notes, sweet syrup, hints of grass and malts. Taste has a lighter body than the Mikkeller version, more hops and rice notable in the taste. Finish is hoppy, sweet and syrupy with some rice notes. This has even more DIPA notes.

Amber with small head. Aroma of malt and spices. Flavour with some fruit, alcohol and caramel

Yorker (2085) - Holstebro, DENMARK - MAY 27, 2013
65 cl bottle @ home. Pours cloudy amber with some sediment and a white head that leaves quite a bit of lacing. Aroma is pine, grapefruit, grass, and caramel. Flavour is caramel, pine, citrus, and grapefruit – with a bitter finish. Not really a barley wine but an IIPA – and that’s fine by me.

Bomber bought @ Bierkompass.de. Pours hazy goldenish amber with a rather small frothy offwhite head that quickly dissipates while leaving som lacing on the glass. Smell is fruity, floral and herbal with sweet bread, biscuits, alcohol, clovers, lemon zest, grapefruit juice, pine needles, resin, peaches, overripe mango and hints of caramel. Taste is sweet, bitter, tiny fruity and floral with sweet bread, alcohol, biscuits, grapefruit juice, dried apricots, overripe tropical fruits, freshly cut grass, pine needles, resin, dried flowers and hints of cookie dough and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is round, slightly sticky sweet, slightly astringent, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is bitter and herbal with sweet bread, biscuits, grapefruit rinds, lemon zest, dried apricots, alcohol, pine needles and resin. Must confess I’m not experienced enough to know what the rice add but this version feels a bit lighter but yet boozier.

Införskaffad från Mikkeller bottle shop @ stefanegade. Ibland har man höga förväntningar på en öl och ibland, men bara ibland överträffar ölen förväntningarna ! Att skriva vad som var dåligt med Risgoopen är lätt, gör det mellan paranteserna ( ) ..... INGET ! Humle inslag var himelska, söt och fruktig. Den hade verkligen något hela vägen, välbalanserad. Till och med etiketten får nästan full pott :)

Bottle @ ZeeBra Extreme Beer Festival 2013. Almost clear orange pour. Aroma is fruity alcoholic, resin, pine. Flavor is sweet bitter, intense thick body, well hopped, slightly alcoholic. Huge brew which is almost an IIPA.

Vilken jävla höjdaröl, fy sjuttsingen vad bra den här ölen var. Aromen var att döda för och smaken följde upp på ett riktigt bra sätt med mycket smak av fruktighat och lite jäst. Balansen var fulländad precis som upplevelsen.

Bottle @ ZeeBra. Hold it, this is no barleywine. This is an insane double ipa! Aroma has big big hops, fruity and dry, some caramel and biscuity notes. Flavour has even more hops, subtle malt note to compensate. Awesome beer.

From notes. On tap at brewpub when fresh. Holy s*** is this a barleywine? Hopped to the moon and back. Like everything three floyds does this is hoppy but this is at a new level. If you didnt tell me id say double ipa. The only difference is that this does have a thick body on it. Curious to see what happens with some age after the hops fade.
