23.09.2017, 0,65l bottle shared with colleagues @ hotel room in Bergen:
Nice light brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry roasted, dark malts, booze, minerals, burnt toast, bark, dark sugar, licorice, sour coffee. Taste is slightly sweet sour-ish roasted, dark sugar, dark malts, booze, minerals, sweat liquorice, grass, bark, sour coffee, hay. Medium bitterness, slightly sweet boozy mouthfeel. Nice.

Dogbrick (13518) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 18, 2017
Sample during the "Collaboration Beers On Deck 2!" event on 08/13/2017. Dark brown color with a medium thin tan head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of piney hops, roast malt and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of charred malt, dark chocolate and resiny hops. The finish is roasty with a bittersweet chocolate and malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Grumbo (3721) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - JUL 30, 2017
Bottle at the IP2 bottle share, from Mikkeller, Aarhus. Region #107. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of liquorice, chocolate, malt, toffee, rum cake and coffee. Medium to heavy sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Full bodied, slick texture, soft carbonation. Rich chocolate and fruit cake finish. Very good.

davidezdonz (566) - Hong Kong, HONG KONG - JUL 12, 2017
A 22oz bomber, I think bottled in 2015 (but nothing clearly marked on the bottle). Poured into a snifter. It was black in colour with a dark brown hue on the sides and a one finger mocha head that had decent retention and left some nice small spotty lacing. Aromas of orange citrus fruitiness and milk chocolate with hints of roasty coffee and some kind of spiciness. Tastes of milk chocolate and molasses sweetness, roasted coffee and orange citrus with a hint of dark chocolate bitterness. Medium to full bodied with low carbonation. Overall you’d think that orange and chocolate flavours go well together, and it started off ok enough. But after a while, it just felt a bit too sweet and hard to finish. The orange was overpowering compared to the chocolate and I think it would have been better if it was the other way around. Just didn’t quite work for me.

koleminer20 (3840) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - JUL 4, 2017
22 oz bottle shared by Gus. 2015 purchase. Thanks man. The pour is a darker ruby tinted black with a thin ring of light khaki head and no lace. The aroma is smoky, roasty, heavily hopped, and just all around messy. The licorice on this isn’t doing it any favors. The flavor is much of the same. The roast and heavy smoke or peat just don’t work with me. The flavor is smoky and peaty with a softer earthy hop and a lingering bitterness. There is a light chocolate but it’s hotter and doesn’t work with me. Ugh. The mouth feel is a little lighter medium bodied with a soft carbonation and a lingering sweetness. This is strange and lightly messy.

Bottle shared with koleminer20 and Gus for the ’Merca turns 241 share. 2015 vintage. Aroma is smoky, roasted malt, dark fruit, slight cocoa, decent. Appearance is dark brown red, poured thin, light tan head. Taste is smoky, dark fruit, licorice, sweet, roasted malt, hoppy, bready, eh. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, smoky sweet dark fruit aftertaste. Overall, this one is just ok.

Bottle. Very sweet taste of coffee, brown sugar, sweet liquorice and warm alcohol. A perfect beer for dessert pairing. Very good with dark chocolate with lemon.

arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - FEB 26, 2017
Pour on tap at the brewery, dark black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of caramelized sugars, toffee, dark fruit, hints of roast, cocoa, dark coffee, more vanilla and dark fruit. Taste was a mix of dark fruit, vanilla, brown sugar into cocoa, roast, and coffee, finishing sweet.
