TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - AUG 7, 2010
Draft at the brewpub (Munster, IN). Pours a rosy coppe, well hazed, glowing brighr red with decent frothy offwhite head that laces well, dies to a film. Pretty but a dying head. Aromas are deadened, caramel and toffee pair with deadened floral hops, dry toffee and biscuits, a touch of spiciness. Fuller bodied beer with thicker sweet toffee, caramel, biscuits, a touch of vanilla. Sweeter malts with a light spicy pepper move into it. Soapy qualities, sweeter malts, decent floral and spicy hops with a touch of grass. Thicker bodied, sweet and silky with sweet malts, decent floral and lightly spiced hopping. A faint cocoa, caramel, toffee. Simple yet well balanced with decent hopping, sweet strong malts, sturdy body and balanced with a sweet slant, floral grassy hops. That slight touch of spice really wins me over

StoutFest (77) - Stoutville, Illinois, USA - AUG 22, 2010
Copper colored at most medium bodied english barley wine with a thin white head. Aromas of dried apricots, hops, and apple juice. Flavors of hops, purple grapes, tartness, a lilttle booze and ending dry sweet.

tap at brewpub. pours a clear copper with barely any head. aroma of brown sugar, brandy and booze fill the nostrils. taste of grain alcohol, doughy medicinal caramel, and cane sugar. a big, warming flavorful barley wine. good in small doses, but too hot to pound.

Rune (13508) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUN 6, 2011
200ml draught. Shiny bright surface to amber-orange coloured body. Dark fruity smell, sweet and bitter. The flavour profile contains a fine blend of dark fruity hops and malty sweetness. Smooth and dry bitter ending with alcohol warmth. More than satisfying to my taste buds (happy drinking with other ratebeerians at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen 26.05.2011).

faroeviking (11220) - Chupando chellas es como ellas, FAROE ISLANDS - JUL 5, 2011
Hazy dark amber colour. Sweet fruity caramel alco aroma. Good mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet with caramel and toasty malt indeed along with fruit and alcohol.

OleR (4849) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 14, 2011
Sampled from tap @Mikkeller. A near-clear dark amber beer, with a layer of beige bubbles on top. Initial aroma of alcohol-soaked dark fruits: Then a whiff of fruity/ light resinous hops, and grainy and caramelly malts. Full malty and very sweet. Caramel and fruit flavors with a sting of alcohol. Solid bitterness underneath. Quite sticky in the mouth. Alcohol heath and lingering bitterness in the finish.

Atom (2576) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 20, 2010
On tap at brewery pours amber/copper in color with small bubbly white head. Aroma is crisp citrus with slight caramel. Taste is similar to aroma with a spicy tobacco bitterness.

3.4
NobleSquirrel (3439) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 14, 2010
Draft at the brewpub. Pours a slightly murky reddish tan with white head. Looks pretty English. Nose is doughy and lightly sweet. Strong malt notes and some English hops. It is starting to pick up some oxidation. Cardboard pokes through, as do some higher alcohols on taste. This would be interesting in a barrel, though preferably one that isn’t too wet. Not too bad.
