Phone rate, $9 snifter @ the brewpub. Cloudy brown with a small beige, fading to a ring before long. Big bourbon barrel nose. Flavor is loaded with bourbon and old wood, lots of spicy boozy heat, some of caramel and toasty malt. Caramel and toffee also present, but that booze dominates all. Dry, burning all the way down the throat, warming the belly. Bitterness at a 2-3. Big full body with low prickly carbonation. So overbourbonated I have trouble finding the base beer beneath. Bourbon’s good, though. . . I did like this better than the rating, due to the bourbon. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 16, 2010
Small taster pour at three floyds, munster... Pours a predominantly darker apple cider brown pour with a thin to medium sligtly off-white head... Mostly dark fruits and caramel malt in the nose, mostly sweet and and smewhat cloying... Flavors are mostly of the same. Sweet profile with dak fruits taking precedence followed up by some earthy hops. Medium bodied, not too full but the sweetness aspect is a tad too big. skortila (5850) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - OCT 12, 2011
On tap @ Mikkeller Bar. The aroma has light roast, toffee, honey, flowers, a bit caramel. Dark brown-red coloured beer with not much head. The taste is sweet, bit sugary, fruity malty, has toffee, honey. Full body, bit sticky. Ungstrup (37559) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - NOV 7, 2011
Draft. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of hops, prunes, malt, and fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, and over ripe fruits. chibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 28, 2011
On tap into a snifter at the brewpub...Pours a cleairsh light to medium brown, off white head with tons of lacing...A really light aroma, typical english style, tough to pull anything out, malt caramel with a touch of hops on the back. I want to like it, just nothing there...The taste is light but thankfully stronger the aroma. Toffee on the front which is sweet and nice but then almost totally dead in the middle lacking of flavor. The finish brings about some wood and hops, just pretty boring, tough to drink a lot of it.
A pretty boring bw, nothing special here.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar. It pours a slightly hazy body, dark amber in color and with a small, off-white head. Sourish, berryish nose with a light roasted and caramel touch. There’s a decent bitterness in the flavor, along with the sour berries and caramel found in the aroma. Medium to full body, nicely carbonated. Bitter towards the end, with some sourness blending in. A decent beer but with a combination of flavors that didn’t impress me in any way. 110526 dm9831 (1512) - Monee, Illinois, USA - OCT 18, 2010
clear brass, slight off white head, some lace. nose is very mild sweet malt, perhaps some breadiness. the nose is pretty mild. flavor is malty, leathery and musty, with some sweet notes. medium bodied, sweet finish. alcohol is well hidden (not necessarily a plus in my book), but not as flavorful as many barley wines i’ve had in the past. still, well worth the try. sampled on tap at three floyds brewpub. mxtur (266) - Michigan, USA - MAR 23, 2011
Kinda bitter late, but before that you get a nice peach and orangish haze color. It was worth having. thewolf (12590) - Kolding, DENMARK - MAY 31, 2011

Pours clear amber with no head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, strawberry, rhubarb, sugar, light honey. Light carbonation, mild prickly oily palate. Flavour is sweet, caramel, vinious, mild liqourice, honey. Light dry malty finish. The honey notes expands as it warms and that doesn’t make it any better.
Hazy amber with a small white head. Aroma of fruit, grain and citrus hops. Sweet caramelly flavour with grass, alcohol and tea-like tannins. Very American one-dimensional and dominated by the alcohol
