A: The beer pours thick and black, not much head on it. Sort of like regular Dark Lord.
S: Lots of bourbon and vanilla with an intense sweetness that only Dark Lord can achieve. Brown sugar, molasses, chocolate, and dark fruits with a hint of nuts and maple syrup.
T: Like the nose, intensely sweet with all sorts of different sugar notes: molasses, brown sugar, toffee, caramel, and maple syrup. There’s lots of chocolate, bourbon, and vanilla, too with plenty of dark fruit.
M: Thick, syrupy, and lowly carbonated.
O: The bourbon helps to take off the edge of the Dark Lord. Pretty good beer. Scopey (15295) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 18, 2013
Bottle at Stout 3 & Freestyle Tasting, massive thanks to Ken! It pours very dark brown with a quickly dissipating tan head. The nose is toasted coconut, oily, toffee, fudge, tablet, chocolate gateaux, light soy sauce and vanilla. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, sweet fudge, salted liquorice, soy sauce, coconut, bourbon, vanilla, warming alcohol and oak. Full body, low carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Pretty sweet, yet mellow and well-balanced. Solid stuff. Ratman197 (15121) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - AUG 20, 2011

Enjoyed with a snifter of 23 year old Pappy Van Winkle! kermis (14348) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 3, 2015
UPDATED: MAY 9, 2017 Bottle shared at the Moeder Lambic cellar session 2015 along with the full 2011 lineup. Pours black with a few brown bubbles. Aroma still shows the pappy strongly upfront, with oak, dark chocolate, marshmallow, fudge, vanilla and roast. Flavour is heavy sweet, but calmed from the normal cloying dark lord way. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Really delicious, they say it’s falling off, maybe it is but it’s still damn delicious.BeerandBlues2 (13669) - Escondido, California, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Tried again in May 2017: It’s still drinking well and not showing signs of oxidation or anything like that. Still strong pappy with Dark Lord sweetness but in a way that’s subdued and just works with the barrel aging. Really great!

Bottle...This beer rocks!... Pitch black ale with a mid-sized, creamy, light brown head. Great retention. The woody, boozy nose presents big bourbon, oak and a whisper of vanilla. Full-bodied and chewy with lively carbonation. The flavor is flooded with bourbon and offers gobs of chocolate, light molasses, espresso and a touch of coconut. Finishes bold, burnt and boozy. Thanks go out to 50belair for sharing this world class beer! daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - AUG 29, 2011
