4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2014 Pours a bright, opaque sunset orange color with decent carbonation and about a finger length head that dissipates to a thin lacing. Smells of pretty bright, juicy tropical fruits like papaya, guava, and pineapple. Also get some resinous citrus fruits like orange and a slight grapefruit. Nice candied sweetness as well. Smells like a big, sweet, citrusy double ipa. Taste is amazing. Starts with bright, clean citrus fruits like orange and grapefruit with some resinous pine that adds quite a bit of abrasive bitterness. Then melds into a nice carmel/candied sweetness, somewhat bready malt backbone. This gives the fruity hop qualities a more juicy-like flavor. Finish brings a slight abrasive bitterness back, but its subdued compared to some of their other dipas. Along with this comes more of the tropical fruit variety. Pineapple, papaya, and mango stand out as well as a great candied sweetness. Also get just a hint of pine. Just the slightest alcohol burn on the end, but no alcohol to smell or taste, which is impressive for 10.5%. A crisp and somewhat clean, refreshing finish that really makes this beer awesome. High medium body with a creamy and slightly oily mouthfeel from the hops, but still very clean compared to other dipas at this strength. I have very high expectations when it comes to three floyds dipas and this one meets it and then some. Outstanding beer.
Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza 2017. It pours hazy orange - amber with a medium white head. The aroma is soft, orange marmalade, tangerine, candy, sherbet, orange blossom and brioche. The taste is crisp, dry, fairy soft, lemony, orange blossom, warming booze, resin, bready, citrus rind, bread and earth. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Good old-skool hop juice. September 2017 - Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza. As 'Three Floyds Permanent Funeral'. Dark amber orange, hazy and translucent, foamy off-white head. Aroma is resinous, tangerine and orange. Body is light and a little frothy with tingly carbonation. Taste is orange, rich sugars, not much complexity, resinous with a spicy and boozy finish. Probably impressive in its heyday - less so now but chuffed to get the chance to try it. (6-4-7-4-15=3.6) willisread (3800) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 28, 2017
Bottle from Val-U. Pours a deep gold to light marigold yellow with a finger of foam that lingers. Big piney, resin notes with grapefruit, bright orange, malt and honey aromas as it warms. Good balance between sweet and bitter. Orange & apricot come through on the palate. More resin, toasted caramel and citrus zest. Finish has a good jolt of bitterness, but still balanced. (Beaverex17) partchapol (143) - Ohio, USA - SEP 16, 2017
Smell of hop dominated, mandarin orange, grapefruit. Come in attracting amber orange color with thin white crown. Taste of balanced bitter IPA hop with sweet orange with sublime carbonated spice. Just right texture. Toward full body. Good strong IPA.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014. This one poured a blurry golden not looking body under a medium sized quite lacing white head. Floral hoppy nose. Melon and, yeasty tones. Grassy. Light citrus as well. Nice. It’s almost a bit sticky in the mouth, soft and gentle on the carbonation. Stingy hoppy. Really infused with grassy hops, fruity sweetish citrus. Sharp as well with a strong grape zesty sting. Hedge-like in a way. Lots of flavors. 03.05.2014

On tap @ Mikkeller & Friends. Fist of a new keg! Cloudy and deep orange golden in the glass. A big really lasting and lacing, hefty lacing off-white head on the top. Smells a little bit mild at first. Grape, citrus, pine and a distinct tropical sweetness. Nice, but it opens up more after a few sips. Tastes like a creamy hop juice. That’s just a wonderful plushy velvety texture in the mouth with a spot on carbonation level. Tropical zesty pine with canned apricots, peaches, traces of lychee and nuts(?) A lovely one for sure! 31.01.2015
