Huhzubendah (3776) - Washington DC, USA - MAR 24, 2014
The beer is hazy orange with a hint of crimson. Half inch of off-white head. The aroma offers some resinous hops, malt, bread, sweet fruits, esters, candies. This is NOT a saison. Not even close. FFF makes some great beers. This is not one of them. Even if one were to re-categorize this beer, it doesn’t change the fact that it is simply sub-par. No yeast, funk, farmhouse, hay, spice or any characteristics of the style. Too sweet, too hoppy, messy, muddled. Avoid.

Theydon_Bois (21822) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAR 15, 2014
Bottle at Fastelavn Smagning 2014 @ J&C’s beer palace, Jutland Saturday Session 2 - 01/03/14. Hazed orange amber with a good sized off white covering. Nose is bitter orange, yeast notes, raw pineapple, straw, hoppy backnotes. Taste comprises bitter tropicals, mandarin, pineapple chunks, tarte orange peel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, sweet notes in the close. Drinkable stuff but not what I want from this style, "US’d" up with too much hop and tropicana on show.

SlackerMads (3646) - DENMARK - MAR 15, 2014
Bottle. Hazy orange with a large creamy off white head, medium effervescence, looks good. Odd nose, sweet over ripe fruits and caramel. The flavour has notes of caramel, toffee, cheesy, light bread, light grapefruit, canned peaches. Light paper oxidation. Creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Ok mouthfeel at first, but too much bitterness and astringency ruins it. Medium/full body, quite sweet but also plenty bitter, towards being rough. Light bitter and astringent finish. Strange, perhaps it’s old? I have no bottle date on this, but it comes out as an old IIPA and has no resemblance to a saison.

Golden color with a small wisp of a head. Big fruity nose with something floral in the background. Flavors of honey sweetness with lots of fruit, jam, candy sugar and some floral hops in the finish. Not much of a saison, but I’m not a big fan of the style anyway.

Probably the worst 3 floyds i have ever tasted. Poor aroma and off putting taste. Still love 3 floyds though.

Burnt orange color with an off white head that settles to wisps on the surface and leaves little lacing. Aroma is immediately malt and grain forward which is surprising. Smells like mash in a brew kettle with some caramel, brown sugar and a hint of spicing. Taste is certainly malt forward too, with caramel, some brown sugar, a husky grain flavor and just a small amount of spiciness and trace of bitter. Semi dry finish. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Not my idea of a saison. Too malty and no hop or yeast presence.

2014 bottle to a wine glass. Pours a muddy golden brown with a small off-white head. Grainy in smell and taste. Herbal bitterness. Very little pepper/spice typical of a saison. Not sure it should be called one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A medium golden orangish brown color with a small amount of white head that settles on the surface. A very caramel malt aroma, brown sugar, some woodiness, cheddar cheese, candied sugar. Upfront is some spiciness, then middle to end is a lot of caramel malt and candied sugar, wheat, a tiny bit of hop bitter. Definitely a different take on a saison as to be expected from them. Not horrible but flavors are kind of all over the place and don't mesh well together. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet fruity, caramel malts, leafs, sap, grass, weeds, alcohol, hops. Taste is slightly grassy, caramel malts, leafs, sap, grass, citrus peel, hops. Longlasting bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Fair enough, boozy with the food.
