Dark red beer with very little head. Aroma is slight but roasty. Beer seems lighter than expected in terms of mouthfeel. Good roast flavor not as much malt taste as expected. Good beer but, not one of the top scottish style ale’s in my book
Dark amber brown. Smells and tastes malty. Sweet maltiness. Underfermented Malt bomb that actually works well.
Dry. Thanks Seymour for this treat! randy1969 (82) - Marengo, Illinois, USA - NOV 15, 2017
Aroma is toasted moat, with sweet notes of caramel. Pours clear and dark copper red with minimal head. Sweet taste with toffee, and caramel before the malts take over. Medium-bodied with soft carbonation. Slick texture with a dry, boozy finish seymour (2120) - Maplewood, Missouri, USA - OCT 10, 2017
Shared from 12oz brown bottle into nonic half-pint glasses, thanks Jake! It poured a near-opaque deep reddish brown colour with sudsy beige foam, lasting with lace. Rich malty sweet, caramel, toffee, root beer. Full body, big chewy mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Nice alcoholic strength, warming, but no hot fusel alcohols. A very tasty Americanized Scottish ale. Good stuff. Itzjerm (3126) - Taft, Tennessee, USA - AUG 13, 2017
Nose is light scotch style grain. Flavor is the same. This isn't over hopped but hopped enough to enjoy. Hop profile adds to sweetness. Very balanced Scottish ale.

Pint glass from the source. Deeper amber/mahogany color with light tan head. Aroma is malty and has some mild dark fruit qualities. Taste is malt forward with caramel and toffee notes. Mild dark fruit characteristic coming through. Very low bitterness. Strong example of the style. You may take our lives but you will never take our...opportunity to have this again.

12 oz bottle poured, with a massive thanks to Chris for the bottle. Any time I get to try a top rated beer from a style, I’m in. Dark copper brown pour with a thick, cream foam head. Toasty, slightly sweet caramel aroma. Flavor is a good roasted malt, paired with a slightly sweet rich caramel. Slight plastic. Some vanilla. Thick body. Pleasant cream. A delicious beer for the style. Pretty sure it deserves the top spot in the style. Excellent. basaywhat (312) - Macomb, Illinois, USA - FEB 4, 2017
12 oz bottle. Pours a medium brown, little bit of off-white head. Aroma rich, caramel malts, maybe some smoked elements. Body medium, creamy, finish sweet and rounded. luttonm (6763) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 17, 2017
Bottle in Seattle. Rainy night tasting. Huge thanks to Chris. Thin off-white foam, deep ochre, amber and mahogany. Deep rosy malt flavor, rather interesting. Nose is copper-metallic, deep freshly milled barley nose. Reminds of kvas in a sense, dark rye bread. Malty sweet resin edge. Pretty tasty for the style. Nice. SinH4 (6265) - Garching b. Bottle, thanks luttonm! Brown color with ruby highlight and tan ring. Aroma is malty, toffee, caramel, a bit earthy. Taste is caramel, pure malt, earthy again. Medium carbonation. Rather light-bodied. Quite nice.
