Tap at Showboat. Filtered Pils looking yellow tan. Steady white head. Awesome Bambergesque smoked lager. Perfect lagering. Clean body. Respectable hop bite balances out the big smoke. Super clean. Great.

On tap at John's Restaurant & Tavern in Winfield, and dispensed to a rock glass sampler showing a clear, golden color, a sudsy layer of white froth, with wavy cling to the lacing. The nose was pronounced "after the extinguished fire" burnt characteristics, some smoked sausage & fish, and a touch of roasted & toasted malt. A little better than light bodied, carbonation was low, as the taste included smoky astringency, and some dry, earthy bite. Not the smooth smoked lager that I was looking forward to from past notes. The house was offering this as a 16 oz. serving, so advise to try a smaller portion was fortuitous.

Tap...somewhat cloudy golden pour with a small white head. Nice aroma of malt, hops and smoke. Taste is of a slightly sweet smoke that was neither too harsh or barely detectable. Still able to discern the lager qualities of this beer and it finished crisp and clean. Good stuff.

Draft to taster. Looks solid; a somewhat cloudy dark pineapple with by thin fizzy white head that quickly dissipates into lacing. Smells like a campfire alongside notes of heavily smoked ham. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. Pretty good; one is plenty though.

Draft. Hazy gold/orange body. Creamy off-white head. Aroma of campfire, bacon, toasted grain, biscuit. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Light smokiness in the taste along with bread and earthiness. Clean.

Draft: Hazy yellow, with a small white head. Smoke, sweet fruit aroma. Taste is fruit-wood smoke, ham, grains.... An excellent sweet-smoked beer.

TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAY 12, 2015
Draft on tap at Dark Lord Day 2015 (Munster, IN). Was really excited to finally score this one. A gentle carmelized amber orange hue on the pour, gentle haziness that grows a bit. Creamy offwhite almost beige head atop stays as a nice firmer cakey layer, good retention and nice ringer lacing overall. Aromas are smokey and toasty, a gentle campfire meets hickory wood, earth, toasty biscuits and gentle hammy smoked meats. Initial is lighter bodied overall, nice smoke presence grows slowly, perhaps more in tune with the session body of this one. Touches of ham, campfire meats, gentle earth and wood meet a touch of bready malts, gentle carmelized sugars and earth. Cleaner dry and smokey backend makes this finish a little cleaner, mellow. Sessionworthy, albeit the smoke elements seem a bit more mellow. Certainly a nicer summery smoke offering. Tasty.

Pour on tap at the brewpub, slightly hazy golden-orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of nice biscuit, bread, some slight meaty notes into a bit of earth, smoke, some slight grainy notes. Taste was a mix of grass, bread, some slight smoke and meaty notes into some campfire, slight yeast.

On tap @ the brewpub. Light gold, clear. Light meaty smoke and grains. Clean pale grains, leathery peaty smoke, light bitterness. Extremely well done.
