Bottle shared by nuplastikk. Thanks! Poured a clear orange-yellow color with a small, wispy head. Aroma was some tropical fruits, solid malt backing to this one. Flavor was notes of toffee, malt, resin hop character.

Bottle sample at the beer vs. wine tasting at Aficionado’s on 2/23/13. Pours a clear, yet chunky gold to amber color with a thin off-white head. Malty sweet nose with notes of spicy rye and hop. Malty flavor with spicy rye character and oniony hops in the finish.

22 ounce bottle. Lots of carbonation in pour. Urine like aroma. Big bitterness and high alpha hops. Pretty intense and bold. Slight malty character.

BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - APR 30, 2013
Bottle. Pours with a hazy golden hued body with a medium sized and retentive white head. Aromas are citrusy, grainy and bready. Medium esters, Fruity and citrus hop aromas dominate. Fresh. Flavors are medium bitter, fruity and citrusy. Quite dry. Crisp, medium spice. Tasty.

650 ml bottle.
Pours a dark copper golden colour with a white head. Aroma of rye, bread, biscuity malts and grass. Flavour of rye, biscuity malts, grassy hops, strong citrus, floral notes and some caramel. Medium bodied, thick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Finishes sticky, floral, bitter and a bit musty. A bit musty because of rye, but the hop profile is still excellent. Great.

Nomber. Poured medium golden with a creamy, well-retained eggshell head.. nice lacing. The aroma picked up a whole helluva lot of mango, with pineapple and peppery rye also showing.. loved it! The flavor found sweet tropical fruit and biscuity malts at the core.. juicy mango, pineapple, black pepper, and rye around.. lots of tropical fruit bitterness and rye on the long, belly-warming finish. Medium-bodied, juicy, and engaging on the palate.. great stuff!

650ml bottle @ Super IPA tasting from Mikkeller & Friends, Copenhagen

Pours dark orange with a smooth white head. Aroma of sweet malty notes, caramel, stingy hops, fruits, toffee and citrus. Taste is malty, hoppy and fruity with hints of rye, grass, lemon, caramel and toffee. Finish is malty, sweetish and hoppy with floral notes and hints of grass and lemon. Quite balanced, malty, sweetish and hoppy DIPA with a nice touch of rye.

22 oz. bottle. Mostly clear amber with strong retention. Aroma has a decent amount of fruit. Orange zest, lemons, tropical fruit and underlying rye. Nice!

Flavor has a light rye base with traces of grass and the same fruitiness that is found in the aroma. The body is a little on the thin side and is lacking in body. Not what I was expecting in that department. Some light alpha acid and has an oily mouthfeel. Some bready biscuit malt to help balance this beast. Overall pretty good.

PhillyCraft (7216) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 31, 2013
Bottle. Hazy orange pour with medium off white head accompanied by nice lacing patterns. Aromas and flavor are super juiced out yo. Notes of dank pine, grapefruit, tropical citrus, orange juice, rye, and caramel. Perfect amount of malt in this beast....the hops were able to be showcased but still had a balanced, creamy finish. Booze is barely present. Medium body. Favorite of the night. Dio has rocked for a long, long, time.

Draft on tap at the brewpub (Munster, IN). Had this on draft while stopping down for gas and a new barrel aged offering on sale. Excited for this one after the success of it’s little brother in my book. Pours a well hazed orange amber hue, some deeper clear orange sunset edges and bottom strike well, the body more hazed, with a cakey offwhite head atop as a firm yet smaller layer. Aromas are richer bitter fruit hops of melon and grapefruit, white grape and florals. Gumball, oranges, dancing in and out with sweeter tropical fruit aromas. Some rye, bready malts, and grainy malts but this is a melange of hop flavor in the nose. Touches of grass, pineapple, and lemons waft in. Initial is medium bodied, giving just a girth with an incredibly rich bitter hop flavor up front. Fresh and vibrant, this beer preaches fruity hops, florals, melon and grapefruit up front. Straight grapefruit juice, pine, florals. Touches of tropical fruit are more mellow than the nose. Pine, lemon, grass and florals bring a nice strong resiny bitterness. Middle is bitter and grapefruit citrus. Pine and florals, dry and bitter. Touches of bread, fruit, and cereal malts. More fruity melon, kiss of gumball, white grape and tangerine. Moving into the backend this one offers firm bitterness, citrus, tons of grapefruit. A gentle kiss of heat at times, but what could be just strong bitter rich hop oils lingering on the palate. Fruit, gumball, oranges, and florals. Grapefruit juice, as the fruit and strong citrus flavors really stay throughout this one. I haven’t loved a lot of FFF’s new IPAs/DIPAs lately, but this one is a winner. Remiscent of Rye’d Da Lightning, but stronger, more intense, richer hop flavors. Fresh and vibrant, good bitter dryness. Very nice beer here. Get at it soon, the fresher the better I’d think.
