pours a beautiful orange, the aroma is all tropical fruits; oranges, pineapples, mango. the rye is very much present as well. The taste is just as intriguing as the smell, all of those tropical flavors are present all throughout and the rye is noticeable right away and is also in the finish.
Overall this is well worth trying and getting all the time if possible in my opinion, definitely on the top of the rye ale charts.
Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with no head. The aroma is strong floral hop and pine. Medium mouth, nice dry hop and rye flavor, lingering bitterness, very impressive. hotstuff (5140) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - OCT 17, 2014
Backlog rating on 12-15-2012 (Bottle) The appearance is a medium sized ivory head that mostly diminshes, hazy golden body, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is rye, breadt malt, pine, and citrus hops. The flavor is bready malt, moderate bitterness, rye, pine hops, and a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and this beer is medium-full bodied. The hops are upfront as they should be for this beer style. This beer’s flavors come together very well and this beer is worth trying. AirForceHops (7132) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 29, 2014
22 oz. bottle. Mostly clear amber with strong retention. Aroma has a decent amount of fruit. Orange zest, lemons, tropical fruit and underlying rye. Nice!TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 26, 2014
Flavor has a light rye base with traces of grass and the same fruitiness that is found in the aroma. The body is a little on the thin side and is lacking in body. Not what I was expecting in that department. Some light alpha acid and has an oily mouthfeel. Some bready biscuit malt to help balance this beast. Overall pretty good.
Pours a nice darker orageish golden color with white head. Rye spice, pine, citrus, and some grass on the nose; follows onto the palate. The rye really comes through on the finish, nice spice to a DIPA. jtclockwork (16436) - , New Jersey, USA - APR 9, 2014
Bottle thanks to Roger. Consumed while listening to Holy Diver. Pours orange gold with white head. Nose/taste of rye, malt, spicy yeast, grapefruit and citrus peel. Medium body. Well balanced.
