On tap at the 3F Brew Pub. Poured a deep mahogany color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of plums, raisins, overall fruity with a very light spiciness. Tastes of raisins, plums, apples, very light chocolate and very light candi sugar. There was a sweetness present, but not overly sweet that I tend to notice in American made tripels. Light alcohol in the finish, but overall well hidden. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JAN 16, 2007
Growler courtesy of Pickles @ Three Floyds Pub. #100. Much darker than previous tripels I’ve encountered. A lot going on. Enjoyed with the Czar & CB. Deep reddish brown in color with sweet raisin plumy flavor. Very well done. egajdzis (6626) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 3, 2006
Poured an amber color with a medium sized, light tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus fruits, yeast, nuts, orange peel, and some banana. Taste of caramel, nuts, citrus fruits, earthy yeast, coriander, orange peel and black pepper. BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JUL 1, 2006
On tap at brewpub and served in a snifter: Crimson hue with a small frothy head and little lace, some oily legs. The aroma has notes of current and fig, mild smoke, earthy yeast esters, light cardamom, and some phenolic vapors. Pailhead (6541) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - JUN 5, 2006
Wow, very different tasting with a fruity fig forefront supported by a malty base. Some chocolate and sugary background. A sharp bite of alcohol before a subdued spiced finish. The mouth feel is lush and oily, medium to full-bodied. Slight bite and moderately warming on the finish.
Interesting to say the least, not normal for sure, I DIG IT!
Growler: Courtesy of Styles. Aroma of plum, banana, light raisin, slight yeastiness, and hints of apple. Pours a dark reddish-brown with moderate transparency and a small off-white head. Lots of sweet dark fruits througout. Lots of grape with light plum and raisin. Yeastiness lingers behind all the fruitiness. Hints of chocolate of chocolate in the finish with only the slightest hint of bitterness. As it warms alcohol becomes slightly noticeable.

Huge thanks to Eyedrinkale for bringing a growler of this to the heavyweight open house - not your typical trippel, but this IS FFF we’re talking about here - kind of dark copper/brown - yeasty, typical belgian aroma, with a background of banana, lemon - orange, spices, bready/yeasty notes - combine the best of a trippel with some caramel/toffee qualities and you’ll have an idea of what this beer tastes like - interesting, but not great. heemer77 (5358) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JUN 5, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 15, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. The body was dark brown and ruby with a light tan head. The aroma was sweet caramel with pears. There was also some cinnamon spice. The taste was dank caramel with toffee. There was also oak and funky chocolate in the finish. There is a very noticeable alcohol burn. Had this from a growler at another tasting. I gave it the same scores. I tasted a little more fruit of pear in it this time around. beastiefan2k (4008) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - JUN 4, 2006
Growler shared by EyeDrinkAle @ Heavyweight open house, thanks Mike. I was pretty um... happy by the time Mike brought out this puppy But I made sure to carfully inspect this brew. So I was really surprised to see that this tripel pours dark... a shade of brown. WTF. The aroma was bready, rye, grainy, with a strong floral/perfumy aspect. A very nice mix. The taste was more concentrated toward a bready flavor. Not your daddy’s tripel but still damn good. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 6, 2007
from memory, on tap at 3F summer of 06, poured surprisingly dark with small white head. nose of dark fruit and belgian candy sugar. flavor had more dark fruits, plums, raisins, some spices, chocolate, and a alcohol finish. this didn’t come off very tripel like which was obviously the point from "it’s not normal" but whatever, i wasn’t that into this but would be willing to give it another try. beerbuzzmontreal (3487) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 18, 2007
Pours a clear dark amber color with a thin offwhite head. Good and surprising aroma of fruits, spices and chocolate. The body is light with a powdery texture and moderate carbonation. Nicely done.
