Smells like playdoh. Wood grapes. Strong grape and carbonated buzz. Oak and alcohol warmth. Not bad but the oak flavor isn’t my favorite one, lots of flavor but not particularly appetizing. Very interesting and glad I got to try this one.
On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013. This is a blurry deep amber-golden one with a small bubbly and sidesticking just off-white top. The nose has a strong caramel sweetness, glazed and a bit sticky. Fresh melon, some zest and traces of white pepper. Lots of flavor! Oh, this is quite good. Oily on the mouthfeel and average with those small prickling carbonation bubbles. Really tasty! Heavy concentrated and I think it might could be a bit to much in larger quantities than this. Glazed fruits, lots of malty caramel sweetness, a ton of vanilla and wood? Has this been barreled? Hmm.. This is just amazingly flavorful. Fits my palate like a hand in a glove. The correct sized glove that is. 03.05.2013 ineedbeer (2255) - Oakland, California, USA - JAN 23, 2016
Poured from a bottle courtesy of CatMan.
Aroma has a lot of caramel malt notes with some dark sugar notes and honey. Some moderate phenolic notes with a lot of red apple and over ripe fruit.
Pours a hazy, copper color with medium sized, moderately thick, white head that recdes to take edges where it lingers. Light lacing and small legs.
Flavor is fairly sweet with some cinnamon and other phenolic notes. Quite a bit of fruit, especially red apple and pear with some stone fruit. Some medium light acidity with a bit of citrus. Moderately strong honey, caramel and other sugar notes.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a weird beer. Not great, but not absolutely horrible. An odd, Belgian style beer. rouhlas (3783) - Thessaloniki, GREECE - AUG 6, 2015

Sample at KurtKeller 021: Pappy-tastic 01 on 03/06/2015. This beer pours a cloudy orange-amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of dark fruit, yeast and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of raisins, caramel malt and earthy yeast. The finish is oaky and fruity. Decent overall.

Bottle. Dark amber color with a ring of head around the glass that lasts. Smell is apples with light alcohol and some caramel. Taste is caramel, apple, alcohol, citrus. Medium bodied and soft. Astringent finish. KingCecil (2088) - DENMARK - OCT 24, 2014
Bottle @ home .... It pours light murky dark golden with a medium light tan head.... sour notes, fresh, leather, berries, some tobacco and fruits.... JDBaker11058 (2351) - Maryland, USA - SEP 15, 2014
Appearance: deep amber brown, with a short tan head; incautious pouring results in significant black floaties at the end of the bottle. Aroma: absolutely delicious aroma of raisins, figs, salted caramel bread pudding, light clove milk chocolate, with just a hint of astringent booze. Taste: sour up front, with balsamic vinegar, then some of the flavors strongly forecast in the aroma. Finish: lingering boozy astringency, with big syrupy sweetness vying for primacy with the sour notes from the initial taste. Notes: If this beer tasted exactly like it smelled, it would have been magnificent. Now, I like a good sour beer, but it didn’t seem like this should have been sour like it was. Maybe they did intend it, given the wood-aging, but that sourness just didn’t work here.

Poured an orangish amber color from the bottle with aromas of offensive skunkiness, oak, light malt, and some rotting bananas. Flavors matched the aromas, drain pour, not good. neuromatt (1226) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 31, 2014
22 oz bottle from the brewery, served in a branded stem glass. Pours hazy orange-caramel with a moderate tan head that mostly remains and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has huge notes of sour fruit, green apple, oak and funk. The flavour is moderately sweet throughout with big oak, caramel malts and a hint of sour fruit. The finish is long and oaky, with caramelly malts. On the palate, it is medium in body with a smooth, milky texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is a nice oak barrel-aged Belgian style ale. The nose starts out sour and funky, but it mellows out as it develops on the palate. Overall, a very nice ale. 2014-01-31
