Pours a nice dark brown almost black with tan head. Caramel malts, roast, some hop pine, and a bit of cereal grain on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with roasted character. Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 29, 2014
This one poured a darker brownw ith a beige head. Aroma was slightly old hops, mild roast and chocolate. Falvor was similar, wish I had had it fresh or a little older., but still tasty. Patrickctenchi (6561) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - MAY 6, 2014

Bottle. Hay, woody chocolate malt, light smoke, and bitter herbal aroma. Black-brown with small head. Sweet chocolate malt, strong oak, and moderately bitter herbal flavor. Nice blending. Spectacular - wish this were a regular. RussianDragon (578) - - APR 23, 2014
Pours a foul black, notes of red when backlit. A wisp of beige head lingers long after the pour. Aroma is cigar smoke and roasted malts similar to Mikkeller (thanks Huhzubendah). Flavor is roasted malt and toxic char with a dirty finish.

Bottle at Craft Heads, Shibuya. Pitch black - offwhite head. Licorice. Light coffee notes. Nutty. High burned malts. Carcoal. Fruity notes. Ok hoppy. Medium bitterness. Nice dryness. Lovely. wchesser (2072) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 7, 2014
Deep black, medium heavy body, with pretty persistent ringing. Nose is burnt malts, anise. Ashy malts with anise dry. Complex with something going on I can’t quite pin down...probably that 3 Floyds magic. SudsMcDuff (8389) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - FEB 27, 2014
Bottle as shown .. . Black screen .. Mild foam, lacing .. . Toast and burnt pie crust .. . Light mouth, abv is well masked .. . Decent but underwhelming .. . . I hate that. I worked out my legs on Sunday and I’ve been waddling around my office all week. Pretty
sure my co-workers think I spent my weekend getting pounded in the ass. bytemesis (8257) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - FEB 17, 2014
Bottle, thanks manbrognig74! Pours dark black with a large brown puffy cloudy head that eventually dissipates leaving nice, if clumpy, lacing. Aroma is roasty chocolate. Flavor is the same, with some anise, light sweet and medium bitter, lingering bitter finish. Medium body, some ABV burn. Quite a bit of acidity, almost like coffee was added. Decent. Had at the BGoA Winter tasting. Pours a dark brown. Slight tan head. Malt and roast on the nose slightly sweet and smooth. Very dry. Very nice beer.
