3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 22oz. bottle into a pint glass.
The color is a clear amber with a finger and a half of brownish foamy head and some nice lacing left on the glass.
The smell is malty with some slight maple aroma in the nose and some interesting sweetness that makes me wanting to move forward to the first sip.
The taste is has a nice smoky flavor that comes out in the first sip. There is some maples flavor there as well and reminds me slightly of a London porter. There is some nice dark malt-like flavor that is a little charred-dough with some sweet maple and the smallest amount of bitterness toward the end.
The feel of this beer is bigger then i had first anticipated. There is a nice complex flavor here that is interesting and helps amber ales shine a bit in my mind. This is certainly a beer that is early in the day big beer and something that could be something to have even at breakfast with an omelet or some eggs.
22oz bottle. Poured a deeper amber color with an off white head. Smoke, some maple, caramel, adn some roastiness. 60minuteman (1765) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 2, 2016
Cloudy amber pour, no head, aroma is sweet; maple, caramel, malt and spice. Flavor carries mostly caramel malts and spice with some hop but it’s not bitter and then it’s smoky. Sweet. Not too much though. There may be some orange peel or citrus rind or apple. Not bad. jhp40219 (449) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JUL 11, 2015
22 oz bomber. Pours a nice, deep amber with a one finger off white head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. Aroma of smoke, cooked ham, and caramel. Taste is smoked bacon and/or ham, caramel, floral hops and a touch of maple syrup. Long, lingering finish of toasted malts, caramel, and smoked meats. Medium bodied, thick texture, lively carbonation. This is Autumn in a bottle! The campfire, grilled meats, floral background. Just need a cool, crisp breeze and you’re all set. Amazing! katrinaez (2250) - norristown, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 3, 2015
UPDATED: APR 5, 2015 The maple was a little light. The smoke/oak was just enough to get you through as noted. Beer itself was quality enough. I would have again but don?t need to run and grab it just to have. Bottle alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - DEC 27, 2014
Bottle; poured a reddish amber color with an off white head. Aroma of smoke, maple, caramel, sweetness, and wood. Flavor is more mellow. Some band aid elements, touch of maple and caramel. Better in theory.

Growler from R’s Market. I like that this has a good amount of smoke to it. Not too much maple comes through, but it is generally sweet. Sweet and smoky works well. The downside is it doesn’t all meld together well for some reason. I suspect it needs better base malts to hold it down. jeremytoni (3083) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - OCT 3, 2014
From a bottle poured a dark amber color with a good amount of head. Sweet spicy malty flavor with a quick finish. chucklemation (1764) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - JUL 19, 2014
Pours a dark amber with a foamy white head. Aroma is heavily smoky, and there is also some wood. He combination is a bit strong and reminds me of tobacco. Flavor is similarly heavy on the smoke, but here is also a light hit of sweet maple and caramel. Again I get tobacco from the blend of flavors. Perhaps a bit too heavy on the smoke, but this is nonetheless interesting. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - JUL 14, 2014
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice hazy amber color with a soft one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing.
The smell had some light caramel malts.
The taste was semi-sweet leaving just a tad to be desired as far as it seemed like it just needed a bit more perhaps an edge of more hops.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a slight sessionability about it.
Overall, this was just okay, it wasn’t anything special but it wasn’t anything bad. alliance100 (1172) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUN 18, 2014
Draft at Derby Station - pours reddish amber . Faint smoke aroma with a bit of maple . Taste has a prominent smoke note , mild herbal hop bitterness , slight caramel finish . Pretty good . Interesting mix of flavors .
