Bottle cheers to Colin. Nothing super special or to rave on about, just solid stuff. Loads of dry, powdery type chocolate. Not overly hoppy. Not bad Theydon_Bois (19714) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - DEC 7, 2013
Bottle split at CBC, 05/12/13, sourced at Wegmans Downington PA.
Very dark mahogony brown with reddish hues and a big ole bubbly beige head.
Nose is dank citric hops - a little skunky, light pine, floral notes, malt.
Taste comprises dank hops, bitter grapefruit, tropical fruit medley, pine bite and light roast.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dank grassy hop bitterness in the finish.
Respectable enough CDA. madmitch76 (24980) - , Essex, ENGLAND - DEC 5, 2013

Bottle tasting at Craft Clerkenwell. Thanks to Black IPA hound Colin. Clear deep red beer with a small pale tan head. Light dry palate, softish. Very light touch of dark malts. Mellow red berry fruits. Hops are pretty bitter and only have a light touch of that signature (but not cumpulsorary) black ipa pine. Dry finish with a stong bitter linger.
Bottle. Dark fruits on the nose. Dark brown in color. Roasted barley dominates the flavor. Bitter. Medium body. jeremytoni (3073) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - OCT 12, 2013
From a bottle poured a dark brown color with a fair amount of head. Toasted malty flavor with a lingering finish.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2013 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 1pt. 6oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: It builds a two and a half inch medium tan head over a very dark reddish brown body. Inside the body there is some carbonation streaming up to the head which has nice retention and makes for some nice lace patterns on the glass.
Smell: Right away I am greeted with firm herbal and leafy hop notes. Behind the hops are notes of caramel and fresh bready malts that also offer a light toasted nuance as well.
Taste/Palate: The flavor is full of herbal, piney and resin like hop bitterness up front alone with toasted/roasted malty notes. There is a slight fruity note in the background like unripe mango. It finishes with lots of hop bitterness and heavily toasted almost burnt malt notes slowly fading off the tongue.
Notes: Overall it is an average Black IPA. It brings lots of bitterness and some complexity to the table but not full harmony of its flavors.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a moderate light tan head on it. Nose has some nice roasting elements to it with a decent amount of floral hoppiness coming through. Taste is quite bitter, but with a very pleasant roasty smoothness to it. Easy drink and fun Black IPA. Truebrew69 (19) - New Jersey, USA - JUN 13, 2013
Excellent Black IPA! THe color is so dark but the taste is so rich. Nice and hoppy. Can clearly taste the crisp dark hops on this one. DCLawyer (2846) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - MAY 19, 2013
