Bottle from westmere beverage. Pours dark brown/black with three finger khaki colored head and nose of cocoa and grapefruit. Tastes of dark chocolate, resin, roasted malt, light hops, herbal, earth, and grapefruit. pete4999 (1445) - Buffalo, New York, USA - APR 11, 2012
Bottle from somewhere in Western NY. Pours an opaque brown/black with a bit of a tan head. Has an almost flowery smell at first, which strangely fades into something like dark chocolate. Taste is similarly dark-chocolatey, not a ton of hop bite - hops are mostly in the background on this one. Good beer, but I’m a bigger-than-average fan of the style so take that FWIW. Poured with a ridiculously oversized head, all but a half inch of liquid and didn’t dissipate for more than 5 minutes, as if it were an out of date rye beer. After a bit I got a thin chocolate and slight smoked taste. Not the mouthfeel of an IPA......overall, not worth the money. jkwood04 (5463) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 17, 2012
22oz bottle in a shaker. Pours very dark brown with a thick, cream-colored head. Aroma of strong citrusy hops, plus some caramel and roasted malts, and hints of dark fruits. Flavor about the same. Average texture. A good black IPA. jimhilt (2621) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 14, 2012
Pours a three-finger khaki head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Black color, no highlights. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is grapefruit hops and flavor is grapefruit with some caramel, lingering grapefruit aftertaste. Forced to buy this because of name - it isn’t skunky, not a bad black IPA. $7.99 for a 22oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma.

Dark reddish-brown pour withg brown head. Aroma is roasted malt and piny hops. Taste is roasted malt, a little metallic, hops are so-so. Nice lacing. AirForceHops (7679) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 29, 2012
Combination of draft and 22 oz. bottle. Draft at Sunset Grill. Pint glass shows off-white, fluffy head setting on deep mahogany liquid. Some lace. Nose of roasted malt aroma with piney and herbal hops. Flavors of charred malts, caramel and black malts and extremely resinous herbal hops. Lingering pine hops that goes on and on. Medium body. My personal taste has this being off balance with too much pine resin and I didn’t get chocolate malt, more burnt notes. The bottle didn’t impress me either. FROTHINGSLOSH (8069) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 12, 2012
Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a huge foamy brown head that lingered forever and left great lacing. The aroma was roasty and toasty malts with strong floral hops, grapefruit and resin. The flavor was roasty malts, cocoa, vanilla, moderate floral and fruity hops and a touch of caramel. The finish was long with cocoa and floral hops. Moderately full bodied. Decent. BroSpud (2233) - , Massachusetts, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Bomber. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Average IPA with good hop aroma and taste but nothing spectacular here. SpringsLicker (3664) - Tennessee, USA - DEC 31, 2011
Pours a dark clear brown with garnet highlights that throws up a tall, sticky tan head.
Roast malt aromas and muted hops.
Roast malt and some hops in the flavor. Sort of what you might get if you blended a light stout with a medium IPA.
Good body and no off flavors but this one starts up and doesn’t go any where. Still trying to figure out what this style should be.
