Voraciously hoppy and not overly bitter. The Kind brings enormous aroma and maximum flavor. It’s like taking a walk through a pine forest and ending up at a citrus farm. This beer brings joy to the world, one sip at a time.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly cloudy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of orange zest, tangerine, grapefruit, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, bread, and light herbal. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of hop notes. Taste of orange zest, grapefruit, pine, floral, citrus rind, grass, bread, and herbal earthiness. Good amount of grassy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus rind, pine, floral, grass, bread, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of hop flavors with decent complexity; good malt/hop balance; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good IPA. Nice balance of hop flavors with good complexity; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 12/23/12, My Rating #75 of 12/12, I wouldn’t have gotten here without the Mayans being wrong, but then again, what did those guys know, they certainly didn’t correctly predict the end of the Mayans...

Aroma: The nose is sweet and fruity, orange and grapefruit mostly, with some floral notes too
Appearance: Pours a slightly hazed orange color with a rocky white head and some light lace spots
Flavor: The taste is lightly sweet up-front, mostly citrusy, with a mid-bitter citrus and floral hop finish
Palate: Medium bodied, it has a creamy, lightly sticky feel, a soft carbonation, and a mid-dry finish
Overall Impression: Drinking this one as the Redskins almost give me a heart attack with a tight win over the Eagles, but a win is a win, so I’ll take it. From a distribution perspective, this is first time I’ve seen Three Heads at Buy Rite (or anywhere in NJ). As for the beer itself, this is one is a quite solid, citrus-forward IPA. Maybe one could make the argument that it leans a touch too sweet for the style, but I really found that it worked well.

Cloudy orange bright pour out of the bottle. Very hoppy and bitter taste. Uncontrollable head - foamed up like an ice cream cone. Good floral citrus taste

On tap at Mad Mex Robinson. Delicious beer. It’s been a while since I’ve been impressed with an IPA. Aroma was decent. Pine, lemon and notes of grapefruit. Pour was a nice clear medium gold with a one finger white head. Taste was delicious. Strong resinous hops with the pine taking backseat to grapefruit rind. There’s some floral notes as well. Nice carbonation. All in all a very solid beer.

Draft at beer fest. Pours clear copper with minimal head. The aroma has pine, some citrus notes. The taste is medium bitter with a nice balance of grapefruit sweetness.

My first sample from this brewer and it was pretty good. Not the pine or citrus aroma I was expecting after reading the label. More biscuity and malty. The hops show up in the taste with a lot of bitterness well balanced by the malt. Nicely done. I look forward to another of their brews.

Orange with a medium white head. Aroma is citrus, lightly sweet, some pine. Medium body. Flavor is nice bright fruits, light pine, enough sweet malts to add some complexity but not drown the hop bitterness. really refreshing IPA and one I’d like to see in front of me more often.

Bomber from Capone’s. Pours chill hazy golden with 1-finger white lacing head. Nose is Sculpin-like, a medley of tropical fruit, citrus, hops, black peppery hints. Tastes hoppy, citric, with pineapple, tangerine, peppery notes, and some metallic twinge. Lively palate with more tropical citrus as it warms. A bit malt light, but pretty good.
