muzzlehatch (4975) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - APR 28, 2002
At first I thought this must be the same thing as the Alt; but upon tasting, then going back and looking at my rating for the other, I must conclude this is a different beer and one of the better offerings from this pub. A smooth brown semi-translucent color is topped by a reasonable and lasting head; aroma is not strong in the smoky bar, but caramel and earthy malt notes do come through. Very well balanced in flavor and on the palate, quite sweet (caramel caramel) and somewhat fruity but with plenty of hoppy zing and a big kick on the back end. Good body. A pleasure.
