Pours a deep red, almost garnet, with a fluffy white head. Aromas of caramel, a light dusting of unsweetened cocoa, and wonderful hop spiciness dominate. Tastewise, there is a base of juicy malts, with toffee and again some chocolate notes balanced with a slight orange citrus flavour, and a firm hop bite. Medium bodied, very drinkable, and probably the best red/amber ale in the central Virginia area. Emeister84 (2580) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - SEP 15, 2013
Aromas of roast and caramel. Clear amber with an off-white head. Dry and roasty. Medium bodied. RABinCO (1707) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - OCT 6, 2013
Draft in a flight @ brewery. Not my favorite style...but this is great. Pours a nice deep ruddy copper. Not a big sweet malt bomb. Nice light grassy hops, fruity hints. Very smooth and easy drinking. can8ianben (1577) - State College, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 18, 2015
Tasty red, nicely sweet and smokey, with a subtle candy flavor (maple??). Pretty solid. Recent GABF winner. decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - JUN 3, 2014
Ruby red amber pour with creamy white head and lace. Sweet caramel malt dominates the nose. Sweet caramel malt and a rock candy like sweetness. A touch of what I think are earthy hops. Medium body with good carbonation.

Sample at Station 2. Pours a clear reddish-amber color with a medium foamy off-white head that recedes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, caramel and hops. Light-bodied with flavors of bready malt, caramel and earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Decent overall. Foxbush (2112) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JAN 31, 2015
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2016 Growler form Growlers to Go This is the first growler purchased from the location on the Boulevard in Richmond. T he ale poured a clear red color with an off white head and lacing. The aroma of caramel malts and some yeast. This is malty beer with a very pleasant taste and very drinkable. The ale had medium body and average. Carbonation. The finish was clean with no bitterness. 12 oz can from Growlers to Go Nice ale. The can version was very frothy (filled the glass with foam). Pours copper, overly huge light tan head. Aroma is bare hints of malt, despite the large head. Taste is sweet, caramel malt, some hop tang, actually pretty pleasant and drinkable. Very carbonated mouthfeel.
