Velkyal (322) - Gordonsville, Virginia, USA - APR 30, 2014Pours jet back with a light brown head. Upfront the aroma is bittersweet cocoa, with traces of coffee, spice (like all spice but toned down a touch), and a subtle earthiness. The usual suspects for stout flavours are there in abundance, dark chocolate, French roast coffee, balanced the subtle bite of the hops. The body is smooth, silky, and lusciously medium full (oo-er missus!), very moreish indeed. This is the base beer for the brewery’s Java Joe espresso stout.
