BlackHaddock (7515) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 12, 2012
Tasted on cask at a Wetherspoons in Shrewsbury (Feb 2011).
A golden bitter with a white, light head.
The aroma and taste lean towards maltiness, comprising nutty and coffee flavours, leading to an oak wood like esters. It has a spicy bitterness with a lingering finish.
Considering it is only 3.8% ABV the packs a lot of complex flavours and is an ideal session beer: like so many well crafted UK bitters.

Cask conditioned at Coventry Beer Festival ’08. Gold with white head. Light malty and dry bitter, slightly thinnish with a bready aroma and taste. All a little understated really, not one to blow the socks off but quite sessionable. Ok. hughie (3996) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2008

Cask (handpump) at the Three Tuns, Bishops Castle, Shropshire, October 2005. A straw coloured session bitter. Not much aroma. Mellow and easy drinking. Soft malt dominates the palate, with low bitterness. Like the Three Tuns XXX that I tried just before it, there was a degree of sweetness that doesn’t sit too comfortably in this style of beer. A decent pint nonetheless, served in cracking condition.
