On gravity at Holy Inadequate, Etruria. Pours black sludge brown with a light tan head. Boozy, mollasses, licorice. Very much like a good German bock beer.

Cask, Kings Head, Leicester. Near black with a beige head. Aromas are raisins, berries and dark treacle with molasses. Vinous with chocolate and some roast malts. Herbal with soft spices. Flavours are sweet molasses with dark treacle and hints of honey. Sweet yet not cloying with a fruity, raisin finish and warming, spicy alcohol. Very nice.

BlackHaddock (7671) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAR 26, 2013
Half-pint: hand-pulled on 26 Mar 2013 at a Shropshire Cask Festival in ’The Haygate’ Wellington. Dark, rich and very sweet. Looked fine, an almost black body with a good creamy head of tanned foam. The aroma given off was of a sweet alcoholic fruit cake heavily laden with plums, the taste followed suit. A bit too sweet, even for my palate: a nice night cap though after drinking pints of lighter and less alcoholic beers earlier in the session.

downender (8882) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 15, 2013
On gravity at Bristol Beer Festival 14/3/2013. Dark brown with a slight, off-white head. Sweet treacle notes, prunes, some marzipan, liquorice and a hint of ginger with a moderately bitter finish. Very good.
