A good smoky flavor with no aftertaste. Goes very well with food. Toasted with a hint of coffee for a dry finish. jkwalking05 (4743) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JAN 18, 2011
On tap at the brewery. Dark brown with a good sized beige head. Aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, and slightly burnt toast. Taste is nicely roasted with a hint of coffee and chocolate. delnoche (516) - Alamogordo, New Mexico, USA - JUN 16, 2010
Tap, served in a pint glass. Dark brown, almost black with minimal tan head. Aroma is toasted malt. Flavor is the same. Average carbonation. Tasty brew. joeymacaroni (309) - Wagontown, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 15, 2009
dark, clear chocolate brown color. nice head retention. swirly dark tan head. aroma is coffee, cocoa, grape. slightly metallic. flavor is baking cocoa, cappucino, espresso. warm alcohol finish, and a strong, coffee/cocoa/licorice finish. surprisingly pleasantly bitter, heavy lacing. hellbilly (3247) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - APR 13, 2009

pours a darker version of the typical burgundy brown porter... nearly black with a slight haze and lasting tan ring for a head.
lots of roast on the nose without any sign of ashiness... lactose, wood, a touch of cocoa, fruit (though i don’t know which) and some floral hops.
the palate is dry... almost chalky on the finish... flavors in between of chocolate, slight char, toasty grain, floral hops and a peppery kind of spice. it is very well balanced... safe enough for tux and plenty for the nerds to enjoy.
medium bodied with a soft texture and thick/rich mouth feel from carbonation. 7/4.5/7/4/16/3.9
Good dark color and aromas. Full nectar with strong flavors. This one holds it’s own for a porter and finishes with good length. Nice job guy’s. highibus (823) - Vail, Arizona, USA - JUN 13, 2008
a deep black with tan head and some decent lacing. aroma of roasted malts and some cocoa. flavor is some of the same very deep roasted flavor. Cletus (6353) - Connecticut, USA - APR 15, 2007
Fresh growler courtesy of cbkschubert. Pours dark brown with a thin soapy head. Smells of roasted malt, chocolate, some dark fruit, and spicy. Tastes of dark chocolate, bitter hops, and splashes of peppery spiciness. More hoppy than I’m used to in a porter. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side. Finishes slightly bitter with some sweet maltiness. RCL (2030) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 23, 2007
Nice dark roasted flavor. It’s a bit thin, but a vast improvement over their Blackout stout. fordest (2470) - Santee/San Diego, California, USA - SEP 4, 2006
Draft at brewery. Dark brown with tan head. Chocolate on the nose. Some coffee too. Light on the flavor. on the mouthfeel too. Not bad though.
