UPDATED: JAN 18, 2008 (2006 version) Hand-bottled 22 (from a growler) courtesy of cbkshubert. Thaks Craig! Shared with the Carolina Crew at Tom’s house. I got to the tasting and told everyone we need to open this now. It could not have been a more perfect time. Nose and flavor were incredibly chocolately and balanced. Creamy mouthfeel that makes me wanting more. One of the best impys out there. Ummm.....yum. 9/5/9/5/17
(2007 version) This time I have the whole bottle to myself and can make a better rating of what I thought was a pretty fine beer last year. Still pours pretty nicely for a hand-bottle. Aroma is a bit more boozy than I remember, also some raisins and molasses. Flavor has a lot of chocolate, coffee, and a bit of hops. Very nice balance and a nice creamy mouthfeel and finish. 8/4/8/4/17 OldGrowth (3665) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - MAR 29, 2007
Hand bottle from cbkshubbert via TURDFERGUSON. Good aroma Chocolate, raisin, caramel/toffee. Bit of a woodiness. Dark blackish brown color. Ok head & lace. Bitter flavor. Roasted grain, fruity. ABV is noticeable in the flavor, Medium body, oily viscous mothfeel, bitter sweet flavor. Very nice. Really liked the mouthfeel . Thanks TF for this rare treat. Made me think I gotta visit my friend I Scottsdale again, soon. My only notes from the NC get together. JB175 (1665) - Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 7, 2007
Growler from flacoalto - thanks man!!! This is one beautiful stout with a blackness and hazy, mystic look that is really cool. Aroma has a heavy dark chocolate/coffee mix with some currant and a very intense nose that has some alcohol, but not too much. Flavor is a powerful roasty, dark-chocolate mix that combines the cocoa with some heavily roasted coffee and dark fruits. Alcohol is present, but it warms rather than taking away from the wonderful flavor. Mouthfeel was nearly a 5, but this is a well put together Imperial Stout no matter how you look at it. Awesome brew. hellbilly (3306) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - DEC 17, 2007
UPDATED: MAR 14, 2009 on tap @ TCB. pours black with a thin tan ring of foam. aroma of malted whoppers...chocolate, richly roasted grains, root beer and some ashiness/bitterness. flavor has everything in the aroma with the addition of black cherry, earth, wood and a nice ashy dry balance. finishes with a nice bitterness and leaves behind a nice chocolate and coffee aftertaste which lingers for quite a while. alcohol creeps in as it warms. medium to full bodied with a creamy rich mouth feel. it leaves a sticky chocolate film on my lips. not overly sweet as imperial stouts tend to be.

it’s confirmed... this is better than dark lord AND darkness. so, neener!
Pours an incredibly thick viscous black with wonderful cocoa head. Awesome aroma of some alcohol and big roasted/chocolate malt. For being so viscous the palate is a nice medium body. Flavor is not overbearing but upfront. Roasty and well balanced. A little alcohol on the finish, but not overly done. Great beer, glad it is a local. rusty (1547) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - FEB 9, 2009
Growler courtesy of hellbilly at Bockys pad.
Pours a nice dark brownish black with a decent sized brown head. Aroma is malt, hops, barley, molasses. Flavor is hops, barley, coffee, chocolate malt. Alcohol is well hidden and beer has a nice creamy mouthfeel. Great stout, thanks Josh! SuperDave (2555) - Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA - FEB 14, 2009
Sampled at the Bockyhorsey tasting, growler courtesy of hellbilly. Super dark brown/black color pour with a foamy brown head. Nice aroma of roasty malt, chocolate, molasses and coffee. Flavor is deep and complex, including all of the above and a nice touch of hops. Really great brew. Nice to see this coming from an AZ brewer! daknole (11048) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - FEB 14, 2010
