Dunkel is a word used too freely with German beers. this s a nice beer but for me it’s like an Irish red. the carbonation is not too lively and produces a nice head that lasts until the bottom of the glass, the colour is more red than dunkel. the taste is slightly sweet with a very slight bitter finish. a good beer to skull on a summer afternoon. anstei (2173) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - AUG 7, 2016
Tap. Malt-forward aroma of roasted grains. Some caramel, some liquorice. Not terribly dark though. Light bitterness surrounding some herbs and a lively carbonation. Light to medium body. Easy to drink, rather dry, short finish with low lingering malt aroma. RhetoricalAns (931) - Red Deer, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 25, 2014
Draft. nice deep mahogany brown pour with a couple finger of off-white head, bit of lacing. Aroma of malt, nuts, slight slight roast. Taste is grainy malt, bit more roast, slight sweetness. Body is bit thin. JoeMcPhee (9426) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - APR 7, 2014
Tap at Bier Market. Deep brown topped by a creamy off-white head. The nose is softly toasty with notes of cereal and cooked grain. A medium-light bodied palate with a touch of herbal hoppiness. Fairly simple dunkel. Clean and fairly refreshing.

[5184K-20130405] Tap. Mild grainy cereal malt aroma. Dark brown body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Grainy malt flavour has a slight sweet aftertaste. Medium-full body. Tasty, nothing too memorable though. (6/3/6/3/13) 3.1

Pour at Gasthaus on the Danforth is deep mohagany with a creamy one finger cap. Tasty is nuts & toasted malts. A tad watery. Would go well with bratwurst or pretzel but its all you can eat schnitzel nite here so this beer will be history before food arrives. RichardGretton (4761) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - AUG 13, 2013
Bottle. Brownish bronze beer with a strong off white head. The aroma is yeasty, malty and roasted, and the flavour is malty with some bitter roastedness. Overall a nice dunkel with enough roastedness to accompany the sweetness.

500ml Bottle. It pours a thick light tan head over a dark brown body with a ruby hint. Its aroma is quite faint but if you try you can find sweet malts and some fruits. It tastes of roasted malts, sweet caramel with a strong dark chocolate finish. Quite and enjoyable pint this jercraigs (10303) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 7, 2013
2013-04-05. Dark brown body with a modest tan head 3+ Sweet malty aroma has notes of molasses and brown sugar. 7++ Flavour is similar, pleasant dark malt, light toasty accents and same sweet molasses and brown sugar. 7++ Smooth average plus palate. 3++ Pretty sweet overall, it is quite malt forward. Not my favorite style but this is actually right up my alley if I am in the mood for this kind of beer. Surprisingly enjoyable. On tap at Twisted Kilt, Toronto
