Bottled. A dark brown coloured beer with no head. The aroma is fruity with raisins and prunes. Cardboard also. Plenty of caramel in the mouth with fruity malty raisins. More cardboard and a little warming alcohol. After a while though it becomes too sugary sweet by half.

faroeviking (10913) - FAROE ISLANDS - AUG 12, 2008
Botella, comes as "Co-op Strong Ale". Unclear deep amber-brown colour. Aroma of mildly roasted malt with some chocolate and mild dark fruits. Fair mouthfeel. Mildly roasty maltiness in the flavour along with some grains, dark fruits and bit of bread.

larsga (7540) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 19, 2008
Medium light brown head. Deep barely translucent dark red body. Roasty wooden malty aroma with plum and mint notes. Dry nutty malty roasty plum taste with minty notes. Soft, light body. Dry roasty caramelly aftertaste with raisins. Very nice and highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle, Co-op, Ballycastle, Ulster, as Thwaites Strong Ale.)

50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown towards black with a lacing tan head. Mild roasted caramel malt aroma. Initial breadish flavour with a mild sweetness. A light bitterness shows through the roasted caramel and breadish flavours. Ends medium dry and bitter with a lingering roasted flavour with mild acidic touches from the roasted malt.

renffisch (891) - london, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 5, 2008
500ml bottle. dark brown, not much of a head. nice raosted malt nose but nothing unusual. fair enough roast, wood smoke flavours nice bitter finish. noyhing wrong with thar one at all.

HarryFlashman (469) - Chatham, Kent, ENGLAND - MAY 10, 2008
This was OK, but a bit too syrupy, sweet and caramel for me. You can see by looking at the ingredient list that it is full of shit. More hops, less malt and sweetness a mon avis.

Maria (10212) - Thisted, DENMARK - FEB 1, 2008
Brown/black with a nice head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and the flavour has a nice, full body with notes of roasted malt, caramel, light sweetness and a hint of licorice. The finish has light bitterness. Nice!

Skinnyviking (9570) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 30, 2007
Bottle. High fluffy but lasting light brown head. Very dark red body. Barley malt aroma with cocoa and caramel notes. Cocoa and hops have been mixed with caramel flavors in nice and good balance. It is however a bit thin and besides there are some metallic notes. Low carbonation. Long and sweet cocoa aftertaste.

DruncanVeasey (8226) - NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - AUG 12, 2007
Bottle from the Co-op. Mahogany with creamy tan suds. Richly malty snout with caramel, chocolate and hop mustiness. Chalky, smooth, chocolatey and bitter. Enjoyed it.

TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 8, 2007
Bottle (as the "Co-op Thwaites Strong Ale"), pours dark brown with a bubbly tan head. A rich malty aroma. Sweet and grainy in the mouth.
