Flatish black beer with a sweet and slightly coffee aroma. Malty flavour with an aniseed finish. A pleasant beer but ultimately very sweet. RobBestwick (963) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 2, 2003
sweet malty aroma, dark ruby hue with an off white head, fruity malt character, nutty tones, smooth texture with a long malty finish. BeerLimey (2155) - California, USA - AUG 9, 2003
Bready toffee caramel aroma. Sweet chocolaty nutty flavors, creamy chocolate in the finish. leaparsons (10764) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 23, 2003
A dark beer with hints of purple, this has a strong malty aroma. Flavours are very sweet toffee with berry fruit. Quite a dry finish that is not long or bitter enough. Still, not bad. rodolito (163) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 26, 2003
I have never seen more information about a beer's properties on a label. There was info on its ingredients, allergy advice, nutrition, a warning about its bottle pressure, alcohol advice, packaging (glass, steel cap, and paper), and chilling advice! There is even braille on the label.
Not a bad beer. Poured a clear brownish amber with a tiny short lived head. A bit of malt and sugar in the aroma. The sugar and malt gave it a nice sweetness that was balanced by light hops. Moderate mouthfeel and light carbonation.
