Pours chestnut brown with thick creamy off white head. Aroma is sweet and nutty. Medium mouthfeel with a roasted and nutty taste. Quite dry in the end and despite the low alcohol content, it warms a little bit. A mild citric bitterness. scotty (1235) - SCOTLAND - APR 25, 2005
Very dark red in colour, the light brown head looks good but dies rather quickly. Good malty nose, which is matched on the palate, with a slight sweetness. This has good body and a soft gentle hoppiness, cant say I notice the alcohol, this drinks very easily. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - JAN 30, 2006

Co-op strong ale version. 500ml clear bottle. Poured an almost opaque dark ruby with foamy brown sugar head which instantly disappeared which left the beer completely flat. Malt rich fruit aroma. Full flavoured roasted malt, caramel, toffe, initially sweet with hop bitterness following through. Full mouthfeel with slightly dry finish. Reminded me of Fullers Golden Pride. johndoughty (5600) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - AUG 29, 2005
A lovely brown colour with plenty of body. Some hoppiness and plenty of body.A very good example of a style that is becoming increasingly hard to find. One to look out for.

Sharp when first put into the mouth as though its waking the Taste buds.
Then swooshed around the mouth covering the back of the tongue and the cheeks. Leaving it before you swallow to saver the smooth taste.
This is not one to rush. Make it last and enjoy.
