"The Northern Beauty. A very easy drinking beer with an inviting malty aroma, this rich amber beer is brewed using pale ale and crystal malt to achieve this full-bodied flavour. A finely balanced hop character is enriched by the late addition of Styrian Goldings as a dry hop to give a prominent floral hop aroma and warming aftertaste."

Half pint @ Wetherspoons Thanks for sharing Rune! Clear copper body. Smells like sour socks, cheese, poo and moist cellar. Taste of mould, cheddar cheese and dark fruit. Bitter and salty finish. 4.Jul.2012, Manchester

Cask pints at a carvery in Keresley, Coventry, April 2016. Since when did Thwaites become Thwaitestons?? Thick capped almost nitro head over warm coppery bronze. Barely any aroma leeching out at all; olive oil soap and ancient dried rosemary. Gentle sultana fruit and pale toasted nuts leading to a wafer and mallow linger. Actually really pleasant, neutral, clean and kind to the palate and stomach in a nostalgic 20th century kind of way. Had one and instantly wanted another. A reminder that beer doesn’t have to taste like guava and shower gel to make you want to guzzle a few pints of it.

Cask at the Plough & Harrow, pours a clear chestnut with a fluffy head, a little red fruit and earth on the nose, body is chewy malt with a moderate earthy-bitterness. OK, but I prefer the bottled version.

Draught, pint. Good concept but otherwise a fairly standard and pretty much predictable bitter. Not bad on palate, in fact, balanced and smooth, but lacks a nice aroma background to it. Flavours are mainly malt, a bit of wood maybe, but, again, fairly one dimensional. Not a bad brew per se, just pretty much what comes to mind if someone tells you to imagine a totally ordinary beer of this style. Not memorable, but drinkable and no particularly negative aspects to be honest.

Cask. Copper. Creamy head. Aroma of cereals and spruce. Nicely balanced with some wonderful malty caramel and sparkling hops. Medium bodied. Moderate lingering finish, considering the ease with which it goes down. Marston’s are keeping up Thwaites tradition of good session bitter.

Nice amber color with a thick off white head. Floral hoppy and some toffee in the aroma. Ok body and an ok balnce between sweetness and bitterness. Soft carbonation. Floral hoppy, toffee and fruity flavor. Nice pleasant ale at the pub.

Cask at The Locomotive, Burton upon Trent. Pours deep amber with a single finger white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, nuts, toffee....Taste of initial malts, some caramel, a little nuttiness and some toffee sweetness. Nice touch of bitterness too with soft carbonation. Some fruitiness also. Nice.
