Originally brewed by Thwaites, the brand was contract brewed at Marstonís Wolverhampton plant (Banksís) from 2013, then bought completely by Marston in March 2015. The brand initially continued to be sold under the Thwaites name and logo, but by 2016 the Thwaites name had been dropped.
"This rich amber beer is brewed with only the finest English ingredients. A prominent hop aroma and bitterness throughout is finely balanced with a full malt flavour, leading to a dry bitter finish."

Thanks Vran for sharing this with us! Poured a clear amber body. Herbal hop aroma, dry caramel notes. OK nuff. Taste... well... there are some nice English citric / herbal hoppy notes, but the mouthfeel is null and void almost, just too dry, being offset by the bitter finish. Seems like a hop profile that would match a slightly better-bodied beer. Well... any improvement on the body would be a large improvement. Meh.

Floral and hoppy aroma with caramel notes, pretty simple but full. Beautiful chestnut colour with average creamy head. Medium body, taste is simple, malty, mildly bitter blunted by hops, which are felt all the way through with a bit dry finish. Soft carbonation, feels watery. Not perfect but, personally, the best bitter I have tasted so far.

Appearance: clear pale to medium amber with one fat finger of rocky ivory head, short retention and moderate lacing. (3/5) Aroma: grassy, caramel, light floral. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, mild bitter. (6/10) Medium body tending slightly watery, moderate carbonation, off-dry short duration mildly bitter finish. (3/5) Itís really a struggle to find an ESB thatís actually interesting - and this isnít one. Itís fairly polite and well-behaved, with no significant shortfalls, but itís just so very, very boring. Try it if you like ESBís, I guess? (12/20)

Pours golden brown from the bottle. Aroma is caramel with a dash of turpentine. Taste is sweet with the sugar noticeable but by no means dominating. Overall remains sweet, and ends with a light bitterness at the finish. Relatively light bodied. Okay.

Aroma very pleasant, nice and hoppy, almost peppery in its hoppyness, with hints of caramel, nice amber colour. Lovely bitter taste with the caramel coming through along with biscuits. A good strong flavour and a very pleasing bitter aftertaste, though certainly not a session drink. Great drink for those who like bold hoppy beers.

Bottle - good shape and label, these are often overlooked but are definitely part of the quaffing experience. Would have liked a picture of the mighty Avro Lancaster the beer is a tribute to but a minor quibble. Beer - good dark amber colour, not too light or heavy, balance good. Bitter notes, a nice rounded bitter. Good with nuts, sandwiches.
