AWISLguy (3327) - Wisconsin, USA - OCT 20, 2016
On tap at the source. Sweet stone fruits, plums, sweet vanilla, sweet malts. The barrel is a player, but the base brew is so solid as well. This is nice - a bit of a white whale as missed it a few times. 14.4

Orange clear poor with white head. Smells like carmel candy. Boozy candy sweet toffee vanilla and bourbon flavor. Massive beer and easy drinking. Poured from draft at World of Beers in Evanston.

[Tap] Clear light orange pour with almost no head on it. Heavy whiskey aroma. Not much else is detectable in the nose. The taste is much more subtle with regards to the whiskey. Graham cracker, sticky brown sugar and moderately bitter grapefruit hops work well with the booze/whiskey notes. Good balance. Light carbonation.

Draft sample at FoBAB 2013 pours murky copper. Nose sweet malt, grape, and hint of bourbon. Taste sweet malt, bourbon, some fruitiness. light bitter finish.

Heliologue (4) - Illinois, USA - MAR 8, 2014 does not count
A strong, woody, fruity barleywine. Pours a deep amber, medium-thin on the palate. Obvious alcohol, but well-balanced with grape, pear, raisin, and subtle hints of milk chocolate. Another complex piece from a promising up-and-coming brewer.

3.3
HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - NOV 21, 2013
Sampled at FoBAB2013. Pours a hazyed amber color with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel, mild citrus and shallot notes, touches of earth, bourbon, and mild booze. Flavor is mostly barrel and bourbon notes, with mild sweet and earthy notes. Some vanilla, caramel, and booze apparent. Nice, warm. Finishes slightly boozy. Pretty nice.

Draft at FoBAB. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel malts, good citrus and earthy hops, wood, some bourbon, vanilla, some alcohol but it’s not distracting.

Imperial_Scout (363) - Illinois, USA - OCT 17, 2013
Pours amber with creay white head. Sweet caramel, vanilla and deep creamy malt in the nose. Taste is of vanilla, toffee, and very strong malt. Very thick body. Good stuff.

cbfobes (2891) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - AUG 13, 2013
On tap at 2013 GTMW, pours a clear dark brown with an off white head, the aroma was a little sweeter than I was expecting, more dark fruit and caramel than bourbon or oak, the bourbon really comes through on the flavor with a big kick of booze and some vanilla sweetness, not bad.

3.6

Great bourbonny smell. The beer is american-styled and it is a booze fest. I don’t think it meshes with the barrel as well as it could.
