Draft. Amber pout (like all tight head beers it seems). Its malt juice. Super sweet but not heavily boozy. Dfonorow (2318) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 22, 2014
On tap @ Beer Camp - Chicago. Pour is cloudy red/orange with a small white head. Aroma of crackers, fruit, and booze. Flavor of grapefruit, maple syrup, caramel, and toast. Finish is spice and booze. tmoreau (4743) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 6, 2014
On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served, displaying a clear & bright, rosy/copper color, with a modest layer of off white head foam, and light spots & strands of lacing. The nose was a pleasant, but subtle intro of malt, cherry, and a hint of vanilla. On tasting, alcohol rushed to the palate, along with a pronounced & lingering, rind-like, dry, & earthy, hop bitterness, and some fruit sweetness. Would have appreciated a little more heft to the body, and some hop tempering & supportive malt nature, but a decent, American style Barley Wine nonetheless. Sampler at Standard market. Only my second Tighthead beer in how many years? Well, this is worth the wait. Deceptively pale brown color, like an English BA or a Bigfoot. Thin but dogged layer of fizz on top. malty, nearly syrupy smell, with alcohol acknowledged. Taste is very full of malt, the toasty caramel Crystal kind. But it also has a big load of fresh hop bitterness. The alcohol starts to hit me after the third sip or so. Bitterness makes it more like an Imperial IPA, but them most of my barley wines are aged, not fresh from the tap. Shows a bit of autolyzed yeast. On tap at GTMW. Poured cloudy peach with a dense, off-white head. The aroma was very sweet with vinous and fruity notes leading.. some tea accents. The flavor found fruity meat and caramel paired with rich bread and biscuity malts at the core.. peppery spicage around and through the finish.. it kind of lacked direction. Heavier-bodied with moderate carbonation on the palate.. spicy and warm at the end.. solid feel/flow.

Pouring at GTMW 2012
Orangish pour tall dense off white head. Aroma of graham crackers light pine and a touch of grapefruit. Average palate. Flavor chases the nose a bit more grapefruit and graham cracker quite sweet. Good and easy to drink. AWISLguy (3429) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 1, 2012
On tap at the brewpub extending my other brother’s 40th. Pours orange reddish with nice lacing. Aroma has fresh overripe fruit, some malt, some alcohol. Nice multi-layered smell. Taste is of super sweet overripe fruit and alcohol. Finishes sweet. Very representative barleywine.
